Super Fast 800 MHz PDA Coming From Asus

A forum post over at XDA-Developers shows that a new PDA is coming from Asus with an 800 MHz processor, which is really fast for the PDA world as most smartphones and PDAs on the market today hover between 400 MHz and 600 MHz. The device is rumored to be available by October with the following specs: 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, 2.8" VGA screen, 3-megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, microSD and 1300 mAh battery. Additional pictures can be found on CNET, although the site is in Chinese. The device will go by the model name P565 and hardware styling is reminiscent of some of the recent HP iPAQs.

Verizon and Google Close To Mobile Search Deal - Google is coming to a phone near you

Google and Verizon have often been on opposing sides of deals and issues (like those issues that arose during the 700 Mhz spectrum earlier this year). However it looks like the two companies are about to put the past behind them as they are rumored to be nearing a deal which would make Google the default search engine on all Verizon phones. The two companies would split ad revenue so that both would benefit. The deal has not been commented on by either party but sources say that a major point of contention is that Google seeks to save user search information in order to improve targeted ads and Verizon wants to keep that data to itself. Google is already the default search engine for Sprint phones and has a search partnership with Nokia plus the first Android phone has just gotten FCC approval so this is another step for Google towards do

Leaked Marketing Photos for BlackBerry Javelin Show 512mhz Processor, Lens Inside LCD?

The folks at Crackberry has obtained marketing photos of RIM's new non-3G smartphone, the Blackberry Javelin, which gives us the down low on the details of the phone. Javelin will contain a 512 MHz processor, 256 MB of onboard flash memory plus a hot-swappable microSD slot, a hi-res 460 x 360 HVGA+ display, Wi-Fi with UMA and GPS, and a 3.2 megapixel camera. What briefly piques my interest though is the promise of "integrated lens/LCD technology." Does that mean a second camera hidden behind the display or is it just more ad speak for "the display is pretty"? The release date still seems to be slated for 2009. [Crackberry]
