Matsushita Electric Becomes Panasonic Corporation

Effective 1 October 2008, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. has become Panasonic Corporation, and its ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange has been changed from MC to PC. The name change also took effect for some of the group companies that used the names Matsushita or National. Along with the name change, Panasonic is working on the brand changeover from National to Panasonic in Japan, aiming to complete the transition by the end of March 2010.

Nao Matsushita encourages public to file income tax returns online

Actress-pianist Nao Matsushita, 23, has been enlisted by the National Tax Administration Agency (NTAA) to encourage the public to file their income tax returns online. Matsushita said, “It’s a new idea for me. I have always filed my tax returns after doing them by hand. But next time I would like to try the e-tax method.”

Panasonic Corporation, who legally changed their name from Matsushita Electric Industrial Company on October 1st, has "downwardly revised" their current year profit forecast by a whopping 90%.

Panasonic sets new high in interim net profit

Panasonic Corp said Tuesday it has broken its fiscal first-half net profit record for the first time in 23 years. Panasonic, which changed its name from Matsushita Electric Industrial Co at the start of this month, scored a net profit of 128,492 million yen for the six months through September, up 22.2% from the same period last year.

Panasonic Corp. says quarterly net income fell 16%

Panasonic, which changed its name from Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. earlier this month, said its won't revise its full-year profit forecast at this time because of volatility of exchange rates and stock prices, but noted it may review its outlook with a view to a downgrade when it releases third-quarter financial results. The electronics maker said net income fell to 55.5 billion yen ($586 million) from 65.8 billion yen a year earlier. Net sales for the period were down 4% to 2.19 trillion yen from 2.29 trillion yen a year earlier.
