Indian cricket team to visit Pakistan in January

FAISALABAD (November 23 2008): Indian cricket team will visit Pakistan during January/February next year. A spokesman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that it would play a series of one day matches at Faisalabad, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi. These matches would be played in floodlit and PCB was making arrangements to provide generators for uninterrupted power supply during these matches.

India stars prepare for capital action

The teams would not have wanted it this way but the upshot of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai is that Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are at full strength for their fifth-round matches in the Ranji Trophy. It is also a minor sign of moving on, perhaps, that after all the international matches in India were suspended, not only are the Ranji matches going on but also with added interest of national stars.

Will Your Employer Eliminate 401(k) Matches?

Retirement savers already reeling from catastrophic stock market losses can add a new worry to their sleepless nights: losing their employer's 401(k) match. General Motors employees saving for retirement will no longer receive a match for retirement dollars tucked into their 401(k)'s. And many retirement experts say that other companies are likely to suspend 401(k) matches as the financial crisis exerts pressure on their bottom lines.

Ponting fury, Hayden heartbreak

Until India can consistently win Test matches abroad they are not the world's best team. Until South Africa can consistently win Test matches abroad they are not the world's best team. Australia proved themselves able to do this and until such time as another team does it, they should still be considered the world's best team. It's as simple as that.

Five islands put in Twenty20 bids

Five Caribbean countries have made bids to host matches during the 2010 World Twenty20, half the number that pitched for matches at the 2007 World Cup.

Early wins put Barbados on top

Barbados lead the points table with nine points from two matches, following three rounds of matches in the WICB Cup one-day tournament here.

Dhaka need to win basement battle

It is probably fair to say that the Dhaka Warriors haven’t had luck on their side in most of the matches. With the batsmen in imperious form, the bowlers sadly haven’t come into their own in the tournament. With just the lone win against the Delhi Giants from four matches so far, this could be the best possible chance for the newest ICL entrant to make a late charge for the coveted semi-final places. Up against the Mumbai Champs, the whipping boys of the second season so far, a win would be paramount to keep themselves alive in the tournament.

Flintoff up for the big test

Nov. 8: Comeback man Andrew Flintoff is eagerly awaiting the start of their month long tour of India, which gets underway with two practice matches against Mumbai at the Brabourne Stadium. The seven-game ODI series commences from November 14, and will be followed by the two Test matches.

Determined Goud keeps the faith

Not many noticed, but when Yere Goud quietly - he wouldn't know any other way - walked out to field against Andhra last week, he became only the 16th player to have played 100 Ranji Trophy matches. It is a proud achievement, and also a damning one: because while you have to be good enough to be selected for your state side, you also have to miss out on the national selection to play so many matches.

It's just not cricket: little to applaud in the face of decadence

CRICKET'S degeneration continues apace with the game rushing to embrace the tyrants in Harare, bombs exploding in Mumbai, past champions licking the boots of billionaires in the Caribbean, coaches insisting Test positions permit sojourns with Indian franchises, Pakistan hardly playing at all and New Zealand's best players taking an early ticket to lucrative but bookie-ridden ICL matches. About the only cheering moment of the past week was an encounter with some notably jovial gentlemen involved in the staging of Amateur Ashes matches around the country. Otherwise it's been just another rotten week.

Champions League matches moved from Mumbai

A series of terrorist strikes in Mumbai on Wednesday night which left 80 dead and 250 injured has put a major question mark over the fate of the Champions Twenty20 League, scheduled to begin in the city next week, and cast a serious doubt over the second Test between India and England next month.
