macho: search

Macho Putin in yet ANOTHER display of masculinity as he releases 'Let's learn judo with Vladimir' DVD

Then he was pictured at the wheel of a massive racing truck and shooting dead a tiger in the Siberian forest.

Wolverhampton Art Gallery Launches First Heavy Metal Archive

Forty years ago the Black Country spawned a new sound. The loud, theatrical, macho (did we mention loud?) genre soon made a indelible mark on the rest of the world and heavy metal was born.

Matilde di Shabran Royal Opera House, London

A rare Rossini comedy enters the repertory of the Royal Opera courtesy of the Pesaro Festival and especially Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Florez, who shot to fame when he took over in the role of the woman-hating Corradino at Pesaro in 1996. He’s never looked back, and the leading Rossini tenor of our day reprises the part of the ridiculously macho man here to knockout effect in a more recent Pesaro staging. Not only does he sing rings round Rossini’s absurdly tricky notes, but his physical acting and athleticism are also sensationally good.

Remembering Dean Barnett

I first encountered Dean a few weeks after we'd launched weeklystandard.com in the fall of 2001. I was editing the website back then and all emails to the editor were routed through me. Dean sent an email about some piece we had run. It was funny and thoughtful. I can't be certain, but it may have involved a reference to Randy "Macho Man" Savage, the great professional wrestler from the 1980s. In any event, I sent him a note back. One thing led to another and we became regular correspondents.

Saucer CD Player With Dockable Cup, It Could Happen!

There are concepts that could, and probably will happen. And then there are those that just make us smile. The Drip with Song falls definitely into the latter category. Essentially a portable CD player and speakers squeezed into a saucer, the best part is that you can "dock" your cup and twist it to control the volume. (Though be careful not to spill.) I know I'm a macho guy and everything, but I'm not afraid to say it: How cute!! [Yanko Design]
