Nokia today preemptively lowered its market share estimates for the summer quarter, warning that it expects to lose share compared to the spring. The company had previously predicted that its market share would remain largely flat but now claims that multiple concerns have forced it to change its view; the firm remains deliberately unspecific regarding which firms are taking that share but claims that its loss will come from its own "tactical decision" not to keep up with "aggressive pricing of some competitors," alluding to the heavily subsidized iPhone 3G launched during the same quarter.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Business Wire) -- In time for the holiday shopping season, eBay (Nasdaq:EBAY) is dramatically lowering - by more than 70 percent - the cost to list an item in eBay's Buy It Now(TM) fixed price format. Sellers will now enjoy a flat rate of 35 cents for a 30-day listing period, up from the previous seven-day standard. Sellers also can now list multiple quantities of the same item for a single 35 cent listing fee; previously, multiple quantities resulted in higher listing fees. This pricing change significantly reduces the upfront cost of listing fixed price items on eBay and bases fees primarily on the successful sale of items.

The move is an attempt to calm sellers who are frustrated with the company’s recent policy changes aimed at attracting buyers and a bid to compete with Amazon.com Inc.’s rapidly growing online marketplace. However, while eBay has lowered its listing fees, it’s also increased some of its commissions on sold items.
