Ever since I wrote my self-published debut book Livin' La Vida Low-Carb: My Journey From Flabby Fat To Sensationally Skinny In One Year in October 2005, that "itch" to write another book has been growing and growing. I've bounced around ideas in my head these past few years for books with low-carb success stories, user-friendly low-carb research studies, a best-of-the-blog compilation (which I'm currently working on), and the most requested one from readers has been a low-carb cookbook (which I would LOVE to write!).

Highly efficient recovery technology based on humidification: The temperature of the exhaust gas is lowered by a liquid concentrator, and the resultant gas is sprayed with water to be humidified. Then, the solvent is dissolved in condensate to be recovered. The method can efficiently recover low concentration solvents as well.

A document describes a low-impact mating system suitable for both docking (mating of two free-flying spacecraft) and berthing (in which a robot arm in one spacecraft positions an object for mating with either spacecraft). The low-impact mating system is fully androgynous: it mates with a copy of itself, i.e., all spacecraft and other objects to be mated are to be equipped with identical copies of the system. This aspect of the design helps to minimize the number of unique parts and to standardize and facilitate mating operations. The system includes a closed-loop feedback control subsystem that actively accommodates misalignments between mating spacecraft, thereby attenuating spacecraft dynamics and mitigating the need for precise advance positioning of the spacecraft.

In this theoretical study we have investigated the effect of low-energy electrons attached onto a 3′-guanine monophosphate, 3′-GMP, in the gas phase and in aqueous solution. DFT calculations with B3LYP/DZP++ were performed to study the C3′−O3′ bond break of a 3′-GMP radical anion. Our results show that low-energy electrons, if attached to a 3′-GMP with a neutrally charged phosphate group, can easily induce a C3′−O3′ bond break in both the gas phase and aqueous solution. The activation energy was found here to be 10.3 kcal/mol in the gas phase and, even lower, 5.3 kcal/mol in aqueous solution. In comparison with calculated activation energies for other nucleotides the 3′-GMP has the lowest energy barrier in aqueous solution.

With an eye for larger adoption of Linux, Google is actively working with open-source developers to integrate its applications in the OS, a Linux developer said on Tuesday. By working with developers, Google may be trying to push more of its applications in netbooks, low-cost laptops designed to run basic applications for Web surfing and e-mail, said David Liu, Good OS Founder and President, at the Linuxworld conference in San Francisco. [ For more on products in the hot mini-notebook category, check out our hands-on looks at Asus' Eee PC 901 and 1000, the Cloudbook Max netbook, Elitegroup's G10IL mini-laptop, MSI's Wind low-cost laptop, Giga-byte's M912X mini-laptop, and Acer's Aspire one.

Brando's 6x Tele-zoom for iPhone can get you in close. The iPhone's camera is certainly not top notch, but given some decent light and a steady hand, it's not hard to wrangle some good shots out of it. However, the camera's fixed lens, fixed aperture, and low sensitivity don't make for much versatility. With some inexpensive accessories, though, you can add some spice to your picture-taking.

While NVIDIA has made strides in power management, their chipsets are still known for being power hungry, especially when compared against the competition. I have enjoyed the WordPress format immensely and this new version of the “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” blog will implement the WordPress tools on my own server. This move cost me a pretty penny, but it was worth every dime I am spending on it to make it happen. You’ll notice the new blog has some ads from sponsors on it which is something WordPress did not allow me to do on their format. I appreciate your continued support of those who support the work I am doing.
