MetaCheater lets you extract timecode and reel ID metadata from QuickTime movies and save it out as an Avid Log Exchange file (.ALE).

MetaCheater lets you select one or more QuickTime movies, and through a variety of settings, you can work with any number of workflows, depending on the metadata extracted. It’s a great way, for example, to work with QuickTime files associated with a RED Camera workflow, as I explained in my previous tutorial in the April issue.

Wanna try shopping groceries online? If so lets take a quick pitstop at D’Agostino Supermarkets I have been shopping at D’Agostino Supermarkets for about a month now and I feel very exicted to share my experience shopping groceries online. The stores are small, but they stock a wide variety of high quality groceries, produce, meat, poultry, and seafood as well as deli items. The chain may be small by food industry standards, but D'Agostino enjoys a big reputation both in the city and nationally. With teenagers in the house, they cook for themselves, but they aren't so great about writing what they used up on the shopping list. I can't tell you how many times I've turned to the cabinet to make something, and it's just all gone. I thought, 'How easy is this?' Before you throw it in the garbage, you scan it, and then it shows up on my shoppi

Online Slideshow Editor Animoto Takes Funding From Amazon

Animoto, a site that lets users edit musical slideshows, has taken an unspecified investment from Amazon.com (NSDQ: AMZN). The NYC-based company lets users upload their photos and choose a song—the system then assembles it into a slideshow or music video. The service launched in August of last year and claims 150,000 users. Not surprisingly, it touts a Facebook app with 750,000 users. The slideshow space alone is very competitive. In addition to Slide, there are plenty of smaller ones. As for Amazon’s participation: don’t necessarily assume this will lead to a strategic relationship. (Indie music retailer Amie Street, also invested in by Amazon, doesn’t have one.) Animoto is a customer of Amazon’s web services, which is supposedly how the two sides came together.

Direct Voxx Muso is Natural-Speech Voice Recognition Dongle for iPod Nano

There are plenty of iPod cradles that let you remote control the device, some built-in to cars, but Direct Voxx has come up with the Muso that lets you do it by voice. It's an interesting bit of kit that doesn't require training to understand you, and lets you demand particular tracks, scan through playlists, pause and resume playing music just by speaking in natural language like "play California Dreaming by the Mammas and the Papas." Check out the video to see it in action.
