WHEELED robots designed for security or military work have always had one fatal flaw: despite state-of-the-art technology, they can usually be foiled by something as mundane as a staircase. That could soon change.

A few Apple App Store developers have apparently taken a page from the line cutting Steve Wozniak today, and are using a loop hole in the service's naming conventions to shoot their apps to the top of the list. The story goes that certain developers are cutting to the head of the class with sneakily inserted spaces and quotation marks. One "offender" is Jirbo, Inc., which put a space in front of all of its games’ titles. All Jirbo games now appear at the top of the alphabetical App Store games list.

Ugh. Flickr has been annoying me lately. I remember jumping on it before the entire Web 2.0 business (read: early adopter), and loved it. However, ever since Yahoo! has been involved, it's been more and more difficult for me to access my account, which leads to me losing interest in what was originally something I really enjoyed. Not only do I absolutely despise Yahoo! account access settings, but most of the time I forget my password and it's too infuriating and complicated to reset it. Maybe I've been spoiled by Apple-Google's uncomplicated, simplified almost intuitive ability to maintain order in a sea of chaos, but I'm quite jaded by the endless captchas and email reset requests and the birthday validations. In the end, I don't have time nor patience for it.

recoiledsnake writes "We have heard about lots of talented developers jumping ship from Microsoft to Google, but is the trend beginning to turn? Dare Obasanjo (a Microsoft employee) writes about a few high-profile people picking Microsoft over Google — either making the jump directly, or choosing Microsoft after receiving offers at both. Sergey Solyanik is back to Microsoft and he primarily gripes about the culture and lack of career development at Google. He writes, 'Everything is pretty much run by [engineering] — PMs and testers are conspicuously absent from the process. Google as an organization is not geared — culturally — to delivering enterprise class reliability to its user applications.' Danny Thorpe, who was the key architect of Google Gears, is back at Microsoft for his second stint working on developer technologies rel

"Mirror's Edge looks great. And the first-person-running-jumping-sliding-kicking-shooting gameplay is certainly novel and different. This morning, I checked out the E3 build, which looked, well, great. But...while watching the dev show off the game, I seriously started to feel ill. Really, really ill. I've never gotten motion sick from a game, and I got it pretty bad while checking out Mirror's Edge. Like to the point of breaking out in a cold sweat and feeling rather green. Actually playing the game didn't make me as sick as watching - and playing it was fun. The controls are intuitive and tight, and the overall design is polished.
