iPod Access Photo 1.6 adds support for...

Findley Designs has released iPod Access Photo 1.6 for the Mac, an update to the software that allows users to access and manage photo collections on iPods. The update adds support for the iPod nano 4G, improved photo cropping, photo statistic displays, faster load times and numerous bug fixes. The software works with all iPods that support photos, including the iPhone and iPod touch. It can disable iTunes photo sync, can copy photos both to and from multiple iPods and uses the highest resolutions possible for each photo.

Jobs Unveils New iPods, iTunes Update with Genius

Apple, Inc. CEO Steve Jobs unveiled new iPods, an iTunes software update, and an update for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch software. iTunes 8.0 features Genius to create music playlists. The Apple iPod classic has more storage for less money and the iPod nano features an accelerometer. Apple also cut prices for the iPod touch.

An upcoming Blu-ray disc will be the first of its sort to support iPhones and iPods, a report claims. The French release of Iron Man is expected to support NetBlender's BD Touch technology, which lets users interact with movies when both the player and the disc are compatible. Through a supporting iPhone app called Remote Haxey, French owners of Iron Man should be able to access trailers, play an original game, and use their handheld as a form of remote, much in the way that Apple's Remote utility controls iTunes.

Current iPod line seems to be on the way out

iPod retailers are indicating most of the current line of iPods are being discontinued in favor of a new lineup, according to a report by Apple Insider. All iPods at US Target stores have been switched to "discontinued" status in the inventory system. Similar things are happening in the UK; retailer Argos will be presenting new displays and wall graphics announcing price reductions, scheduled for late August or early September.

Belkin's TuneBase FM is a sturdy FM transmitter made for iPods, can be angled to suit left or right-hand drive cars and differently placed cigarette lighter sockets. While the device has the standard dock connector, you have to use one of the several plastic cradles. Included are cradles for different full-size iPods, iPod Nano (up to 3rd gen) and iPod Touch. While there is no specific cradle for the iPhone, we used it with an iPhone 3G without any problems (therefore assuming that the new iPod Touch will also fit). Plug it into a socket and an LED status light indicates power. While on, it continuously charges the iPod or iPhone.

Onkyo has unveiled a new set of wireless headphones meant for use in fourth-generation and newer docking iPods. The MHP-UW2 headphones rely on the 2.4GHz radio frequency to transmit signals between the adapter that plugs into the iPod and the headphones themselves. The headphones sport iPod controls that include play, pause, and track forward and back buttons. The transmitter also has a stereo input that allows the headphones to be used with other MP3 players or iPods without docks.
