Today’s high-capacity and high-performance FPGA designs are becoming more complex and require more third-party intellectual property (IP) cores. These hard IP blocks include pecialized high-speed multi-gigabit transceiver (MGT) I/O cores, PCI Express cores, clock management modules, FIFOs and complex processor cores, such as the PPC440 in the Virtex5 device. The DSP clock management cores (DCMs), BlockRAMs, and FIFO models are in a class of Hard IP cores provided in standard libraries because the simulation models do not require source code protection. However, the other class of Hard IP cores, which includes MGT I/O cores, PCI Express, TEMAC, and PPC440 cores, requires that the simulation source files be protected. Until now this last set of hard IP models was provided to customers as SmartModels, which have support limitations, and ea

That this House commends the Alliance Against Intellectual Property Theft on its 10th anniversary of campaigning to ensure intellectual property (IP) rights are respected and that IP theft is viewed as seriously as other forms of theft; notes the important economic and cultural contribution IP makes to the UK and the devastating harm caused by IP crime which sees UK industry losing an estimated £10 billion a year and further billions placed firmly in the hands of criminals; acknowledges the progress that has been made by the Government to ensure IP rights are properly protected and able to be effectively enforced but believes much more still needs to be done to ensure the legislative framework is fit for purpose; and urges the Government to ensure trading standards and others involved in IP enforcement have the funding and resources nece

There is a lot of "buzz" these days about Fax over IP (FoIP) and every faxing organization that implements Voice over IP (VoIP) should indeed take a close look at IP-based faxing. Both technologies bring traditional telephony applications (voice and fax) into data network environments, allowing organizations to transport phone or fax calls over an IP data network.

Most NICs or Network Interface Cards within servers and computers are assigned a unique address known as Internet Protocol or IP address. An IPv4 ip address is a 32-bit numeric address written as four numbers separated by periods. Each number can be zero to 255. An ip address for a dedicated server using NAT (Network Address Translation) or your business computer would look similar to this 192.168.20.34 You can find out what your ip address is by typing ipconfig at the command prompt (Start, Run, ipconfig) on a Windows Server and by typing ifconfig on a Linux Server. Today we are looking at the iMetal iP-HS2 Isolation Headset for iPhone that is designed to work specifically with the iPhone. The headset is very attractive and works well. The other day we reviewed teh iP-HS1 model from the same company. I found that the ear tips are rather small in their sizes; I typically use medium ear tips on most isolation style headsets. On the iMetal iP-HS2 Isolation Headset for iPhone, I had to move up to the large to get the same seal and fit I normally see with medium tips. If you have large ears, this could be an issue for you.

Cisco announced that ROMATSA, the Romanian Air Traffic Service Association, implemented an IP Cisco network for air traffic services. This network is a communication platform for all air traffic services, including data transfer for aeronautical applications. According to the company, the Cisco solution helps ROMATSA reduce operational costs, and meet its special requirements of resiliency and redundancy. "The new network architecture implemented by ROMATSA proves that the intrinsic flexibility of IP communications can provide resiliency and redundancy by reducing operational costs. This is very important in an area such as air traffic control, where reliability is essential, and standards are very strict", said Bogdan Constantinescu, general manager, Cisco Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

Changing the IP address on a Linux system involves both changing the IP address using the ifconfig command and modifying the files that will make your change permanent. The process is very similar to the process you would follow on a Solaris system, except that a different set of files must be modified. The proper steps to take also depend on the particular Linux distribution you are using. Debian systems, for example, use different files to store network configuration than do RedHat systems. continue
