On my drive in to the office today, I heard an interview with a comic creator. Since I started the car mid-interview, it took me just a few moments to figure out who it was: Chris Onstad from Achewood (NSFW some days. Possibly including today, depending on your W). He's plugging his book The Great Outdoor Fight. Since his comic is one of the favorites here, I thought you all might enjoy hearing the interview. Today's comic is especially amusing given that it will likely be read by a great number of those NPR types unfamiliar with the strip.

While the Union's cautious approach to granting market authorisation to new technology applications like GMOs or products derived from nanotechnology has meant that EU has not suffered from any major backlash, it could also mean the bloc is missing out on major opportunities to improve its competitiveness, argued a policy analyst from a Brussels-based think tank in an interview with EurActiv.com.

Whenever I get out to the Los Angeles area, I meet up for dinner with some friends of mine who all work, or work around, the television industry. We call these meetings Geekapalooza because we all share an interest in science fiction and in spaceflight, and those topics usually dominate our dinner conversation. Occasionally, believe it or not, there are actually women present. Previously I interviewed fellow Geekapaloozoid Mike Cassutt for The Space Review (see: “20 Minutes Into the Future: An Interview With Michael Cassutt”, The Space Review, February 12, 2007). This time I’m interviewing another occasional member of our group, Mike Okuda, a longtime graphic designer for Star Trek, and also the designer of several patches and logos for NASA, most notably the mission patch for the upcoming Hubble Servicing Mission, STS-125.

GameXtract writes "A recent interview with a representative of Home was caught on tape, and lets just say that we will add this to our hard to watch videos. The audio, and video quality might hurt your eyes, and ears so we will cut to the chase with the information on the interview, and allow your eyes to see for an additional month, and allow your ears to last you for at least another couple of years. If you start watching at 4:30 they start talking about Home spaces, and at around 5:30 the representative mentions that you will in-fact not be able to play music or movies with Home, and share them with your friends..yet. He goes on to mention that their are more important features that the developers are working on, and that they would like to cover those first before moving onto sharing media content with friends.

1Up is running a lengthy interview with Bill Roper, founder of Flagship Studios. The game company, known primarily for its Hellgate: London and Mythos titles, announced massive layoffs last month, and is now simply winding down and taking care of a few final issues. Roper gives quite a bit of detail regarding the financial machinations of a game developer and the current status of the games' code. Co-founders Max Schaefer and Travis Baldree gave a related interview recently as well. "The subscription money we did get, we all poured directly into keeping the game online, keeping it up and running. But the development demands far outstripped the revenues. There just wasn't a good contemplation early on of how that would work. It wasn't like: This is the budget that comes in every month; we'll do whatever we can do with that.
