Open Source Business Intelligence (OSBI) solutions have become increasingly popular, and are being adopted by companies across a broad range of industry and geographic markets. A lot of market hype, both positive and negative, has been generated about open source solutions, resulting in confusion about the capabilities, costs, and technology that OSBI can or can't deliver. This Research Brief presents information and findings collected in January and February of 2008 from over 490 companies for Aberdeen Group's Managing the TCO of Business Intelligence benchmark survey. Seventy-three companies (15% of respondents) reported that they are currently utilizing OSBI solutions from two leading open source technology providers - Jaspersoft, and Pentaho.
