Photo of Priceline.com's Airfare Index for the Week of September 15, 2008, Tracking Weekly Changes in Domestic Airfares --(Business Wire)-- Priceline.com's Airfare Index is a tracking barometer that looks for the largest week-to-week swings in average published-price airfares for select markets. Google's 2001 Search Index, and the Site That Gave Birth To Thoughts Media

As part of Google's 10th anniversary celebration, they are making their oldest saved index from 2001 available again. For grins, I did a search for Pocket PC and number 4 on the list was Pocket PC Thoughts, complete with a link to the web archive - on my birthday coincidentally. So even just a few months after the Pocket PC's April 2001 launch, Pocket PC Thoughts was one of the top ranked sites according to Google. As I look through the names of Editors on the site back then, only Jason Dunn remains.

Introducing The Technology Vendor Online Customer Experience Index

Marketing professionals at tech vendors know that providing a good online customer experience is critical to the success of their firms' marketing and channel strategies. Do those sites today hurt or help the marketing cause at companies like AT&T, IBM, and Microsoft? To answer this question, Forrester developed the Technology Vendor Online Customer Experience Index (CEI) to rate the online customer experience of vendors in four tech markets: telecom and networks, hardware, security, and software.

Online spending reaches 4.8bn in July

IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index on Wednesday showed online spending rose in July to reach a total market value of over £4.8 billion - the equivalent of £79 for every person in the UK. The Index shows that shoppers continued to spend online despite pressures on disposable income with sales rising 11.3% on June. Online retail growth draws a sharp comparison to BRC figures which showed that high street sales for July were 0.9% down on June. A wet July did not appear to curb UK shoppers as they turned to the internet to continue their spending. The rain inspired shoppers to holiday plans and new summer wardrobes which saw online sales in the clothing, footwear and accessories sector grow by 22.8% for July.

Google Beats Cuil Hands Down In Size And Relevance, But That Isn€™t The Whole Story

Search engine Cuil launched earlier this week, claiming a bigger index size (120 billion web pages) than Google or any other search engine. The pedigree of the founders and execs, which includes three ex senior Googlers, means the service will be compared to Google from day one. And the way they will be compared is index size and, more importantly, relevance/ranking of results.

Personal account: savers' weapons against inflation

Reports of the death of inflation proved to be premature this week – as I warned they would be, three years ago. When I tipped National Savings & Investments’ index-linked certificates in this space on September 3, 2005, the Retail Price Index (RPI) – to which these inflation-proof deposits are pegged – was rising at just 2.9pc. This week, the Government admitted the RPI is running at 5pc.

Google Desktop Finds Holes

The desktop searcher is a new type of application that allows you to search your hard drive just like you search the Internet. The Google Desktop Search (offered by Google.com) is one of the few new tools that will index the files on your hard drive and let you run a "plain English" search on the index it creates.
