It’s time to wrap up the year 2008 - a year of change with Obama, the Olympic Games and the financial crisis. It was also the year when Yahoo said no to Microsoft. 2009 will be all about Cloud Computing: the technological hype has started already but the commercial breakthrough will come in 2009 - driven by providers including Amazon, Google, HP, IBM, Intel and Microsoft. The Redmond company is using British company Speedy Hire as an illustrative example of why businesses should steer away from open source solutions, even if they are looking to minimize their IT spending as a consequence of the economical slowdown.

imageFor all the hype about the rise of operating systems, one more carrier is hinting at plans to pare down the number to just one or two OS choices for its company-branded device lineup. AT&T’s Roger Smith, director of next-generation services, said Symbian might become the OS of choice for future phones offered by AT&T under its own branding, CNET reports from the Symbian Partner Event in San Francisco.
