Aquarion DVD Set 2

The battle to protect humanity from the Atlandian Shadow Angels proceeds apace as Deava strives to counter each new threat. Not all of the problems come from the outside, however; one Element must battle a curious addiction, another is suspected of being a vampire, still others harbor secrets which call their loyalties into question and/or must resolve where their feelings for other Elements lie, and the U.N has its own scheming afoot. In addition to continuing to harvest humans for Prana, the Shadow Angels strike at the Elements' food sources, perceptions, and loyalties, but a key turning point comes when human forces manage to capture one of the Shadow Angels. That sets in motion a series of events which leads humanity into its most dire situation yet and brings the Angel Toma's dreams of drawing Solar Wing back into the fold and rejuve

Blog Commenters Digitize Books By Proving Their Humanity

That's the jokey but important question that blogs looking to protect their readers from spambots often ask their commenters to answer. To prove your inclusion in the species, you decipher a series of distorted letters into a known word. Now, that small cognitive exercise is helping computer scientists digitize old words that their automated text-conversion programs can't.

"Gervais has this uncanny ability to take very sad and isolated characters, and gives them depth of humanity and a wry comic bent. "Ghost Town" is partly a romantic comedy, and partly a film about a sad character that discovers that life, ultimately,

The 2008 Toronto International Film Festival continues with its usually eclectic array of films. David Koepp's "Ghost Town" is a very mainstream offering for Toronto, yet it's quirky and wry enough to appeal to audiences outside of the commercial box.

Oliver Rodriguez-Kroll: Zirkus Stalin Zirkus Hollywood

The painter Oliver Rodriguez-Kroll is primarily concerned with the darker sides of human existence - with both individual, relatively innocuous pain as well as with the limitless frenzy pervading the history of humanity. Stories of perpetrators, victims, followers... Looking to artistically de-demonise the day-to-day madness, Oliver Rodriguez-Kroll constantly uncovers new findings: ranging from storm troopers out of the Star Wars saga (of which he had, as a child, gathered up to 300 plastic figurines in his room) to antique tin soldiers, disused lifestyle magazines and faded posters. All of these are a source of inspiration, templates or material for collages; they prompt him to counter the pervading contemporary banalisation of social issues with irony.

Ramadan and cricket at Pakistan School Muscat

RAMADAN is a month of great significance in the Islamic calendar. During this sacred month Muslims around the world seek Allah’s mercy and special blessings. This month also has unique historic importance that the last message of Allah, the Holy Quran, was revealed to the humanity during this very month. Ramadan is a revered month, which teaches submissiveness, obedience, discipline, patience, tolerance, and humility. In this month, through self-restraint we do not eat or drink during prescribed hours of the day what is otherwise permissible.

A Robot Teaches Us How To Be Human

The most recent Pixar computer-animated feature, Wall-E, has arrived with the usual critical accolades and boffo box office numbers for the Disney-owned studio, which has never had a flop. But there have also been catcalls decrying the film’s alleged sermonizing on environmental alarmism and humanity’s guilt in the coming eco-apocalypse. Several years ago, I defended Pixar’s The Incredibles against left-wing charges of fascism. Now the studio is being attacked by some on the right for creating the latest eco-tract—another misinterpretation and overreaction that stems out of a particular tendency, of both the left and the right, to reduce art to ideology. What are the themes and actual meaning of the story about a little robot and his amazing adventures across the galaxy?

Stephen Colbert, Noel Gallagher, Viggo Mortensen

The DNA of the comedian Stephen Colbert will be digitized and sent to the International Space Station, The Associated Press reported. Richard Garriott, a video-game designer, is planning to travel to the station in October and deposit Colbert's data as part of a project called "Immortality Drive." For the project, Garriott is creating a time capsule composed of digitized human DNA. "In the unlikely event that Earth and humanity are destroyed, mankind can be resurrected with Stephen Colbert's DNA," Garriott said in a statement. "Is there a better person for us to turn to for this high-level responsibility?"
