The stunning life-like horse sculptures made entirely of driftwood washed up on the beach From a distance they are the embodiment of equine grace, three creatures ready to burst into a gallop across the sands. Only on closer examination are they revealed to be sculptures made, incredibly, from driftwood. They were created by artist Heather Jansch, whose individual works take up to three years to produce and fetch up to £55,000 Despite its fragile appearance, each horse weighs three quarters of a ton and is free standing. 'The structure must not only be strong enough to withstand public display, it must also be able to withstand heavy winds without falling over,' says Miss Jansch, 60, who has a long waiting list of buyers. 'The larger sculptures require a steel frame coated with glass fibre to give a roughened surface.

Earlier this week, SAMSUNG announced that a Trojan horse came with many of its Windows XP driver CDs that were shipped with some digital photo frames. The electronics manufacturer recommends to download the software directly from its site instead of using the driver on the CD that comes with the digital photo frame. The Trojan horse included in some CDs is only known to affect Windows XP, and has been in the virus community since sometime back in April of this year. Windows Vista is not affected by the virus, so those who used the driver included with the product should be safe.

Editorial: In Virgil’s epic poem, the Aeneid, the story is told of Odysseus’s plot to conquer Troy, thus ending 10 years of defeat for the Greeks. (Snip) The colossal ruse of the Trojan Horse – which resulted in the downfall of the great and mighty city of Troy – is similar to the ruse that increasing numbers of Americans believe Barack Obama has effected with his election to the presidency, specifically that the “warriors” . . . .

In Virgil's epic poem, the Aeneid, the story is told of Odysseus's plot to conquer Troy, thus ending 10 years of defeat for the Greeks. The Greeks' plan was to trick the citizens of Troy (the Trojans) into believing that the giant wooden horse they had constructed was a gift from the goddess Athena. They left their "gift" outside the city and withdrew their troops and ships, the better to convince the Trojans of their benevolent intentions.

Perhaps Microsoft is using this patent to push against Android OS being used on FPGA based CPU's. Field Programmable Gate Arrays are almost perfect for "gear-shifting" CPUs. New firmware can be downloaded to the gate array and used to boost performance. Most of the products a FPGA could be easily used in would be net books or upscale handheld PDAs or smart phones. Android would be (at least in concept) a perfect OS to use because its scalable as well.
