dlapikin writes "Activision is preparing a deal with Konami and Raw Thrills to bring Guitar Hero to arcades worldwide as soon as 2009. It looks to be a great fusion of their current Guitar Hero III axe and World Tour. 'Some features have been streamlined, however, like character customization. Raw Thrills doesn't want people obsessing over the hair color of their on-screen rock star. But one important feature that has remained is downloadable content. Raw Thrills has the ability to push new songs to "Guitar Hero Arcade" through the Internet. Owners of the machines can pick and choose which of the new songs to add to the cabinet.'"

Atlus announced that it has secured the North American publishing rights for Hammerin’ Hero, an arcade-style, old school, side-scrolling beat’em up for PSP system. Forget everything your parents told you about violence only being a last resort. In Hammerin’ Hero, if it moves, hammer it. Pummel your way through 12 distinct levels, including city streets, an amusement park, a TV studio, a baseball stadium, and more. Ever wonder what happens if you hammer something over the head in deep space? Underwater? The only way to find out is to pick up a copy of Hammerin’ Hero for PSP on March 3. This is one hero you don’t want to mess with! (hint: because he has a hammer.)

Reporting from a Massive Inc. upfront, the MTV Multiplayer blog has revealed that Activision Blizzard have just announced sequels to their biggest franchises. The event is designed to get advertisers interested in their game, and is already very popular in the film and TV industry. So far, all that's known about "Guitar Hero 5" is the name, but Activision have teasingly stated that the new Tony Hawk game arriving this October will "not...be play[ed] this game with a controller in your hands". The switched-on gamer will most likely jump to the conclusion that it will be exclusive to the Wii Balance Board, but it turns out that the game is still coming to PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS.
