Gary at HD Guru probably puts TVs through the most insane, obsessive test gauntlet of anyone. He just stacked one of Panasonic's latest, the TH-50PZ850U, against a Pioneer Kuro, once and future King of Plasmas. Basically, while Kuro is blacker (courtesy of its screen's darker tint) and brighter, Panny's color reproduction is much deeper, you get better dark detail, more accurate gamma, it uses 30 percent less power, AND it's cheaper ($3500 to $4600). Everything else is about even. For more grisly details, head over there: [HD Guru]

coondoggie writes "Microsoft's Sam Ramji is like a turkey knocking on Thanksgiving's door. Ramji has the unenviable task of stretching his neck out into the open source world as Microsoft's representative. On top of it, his employer has preheated the oven with years of hubris, sleights of hand and broken promises. Ramji's Sisyphean task was evident last week in Portland at the Open Source Conference (OSCon) and will likely be fuel for chatter at next week's LinuxWorld gathering in San Francisco."

After the death of his father in 1991, Mike Myers set out on a quest for spiritual enlightenment. The Austin Powers star consulted self-help gurus, studied the teachings of Indian yogis, read up on Deepak Chopra, Kurt Vonnegut, Gary Zukov - and ended up back where he started, with comedy. The secret to enlightenment, he realised, is "to just lighten up".
