US Retail E-Commerce: Slower But Still Steady Growth

DUBLIN, Ireland--(Business Wire)-- Research and Markets (www.researchandmarkets.com/research/1ecd2e/us_retail_ecommerce) has announced the addition of eMarketer's new report "US Retail E-Commerce: Slower But Still Steady Growth" to their offering. Although consumers are reacting to the economic downturn by spending less, this will create more of a hardship for retail stores than for e-tailers. A drop in new online buyers--an inevitable sign of the maturation of the online retail channel--will contribute most to the decline of e-commerce sales growth. The US Retail E-Commerce report charts and analyzes the factors that are contributing to the changing dynamics in online sales. Consumers are reacting to the economic slowdown by cutting back on discretionary spending.

More on e-commerce

This is the chart I was doing when I found the mistake in the previous post. It shows the share of retail sales growth coming from e-commerce (leaving out gasoline station and fuel oil dealers). Video Game Industry Predictions for 2012

PricewaterhouseCoopers is about to release a new industry report titled "Global Entertainment and Media Outlook: 2008-2012". The overall video game industry is expected to grow 10.3% annually but console games will continue to dominate sales which will grow at a healthy 6.9% per year. Online games are predicted to see the highest annual growth rate of 16.9% but will still have a way to go to catch up to console sales. Video game advertising, a relatively new entry, is also predicted to have strong growth at 16.7% annually. PC games will continue to be the industry laggard with an expectation of decreased sales between now and 2012. They are predicting an annual growth rate of negative 1.2%. This news doesn't bode well for hard-core PC gamers as this will likely lead to a reduced investment in quality titles.
