Electronic Arts CEO Is Back in the Game

I am a great fan of John Riccitiello, the CEO of Electronic Arts (ERTS). He has done a lot really good stuff in the industry and when he left the company it lost its way. Now he is back in the driving seat and the company is again making great progress. It is great when he does a proper interview because he talks more sense than just about anyone else in the industry. So it was great that he did this fairly comprehensive E3 interview, everyone should read it.

Great Salt Lake's Mercury a Concern -- Scientists Studying Toxin's Effect on Birds

GREAT SALT LAKE, Utah - The Great Salt Lake is so briny that swimmers bob in the water like corks. It is teeming with tiny shrimp that were sold for years in the back of comic books as magical "sea monkeys." And, for reasons scientists cannot explain, it is heavily laden with toxic mercury.

Escrow law has benefited Dubai

Khan: I think the escrow law is the greatest thing that happened for this market. It brought great regulation in. We come from a British background, so we know what planning is involved. We're looking around for opportunities, but we're happy with Dubai. With the regulations come a great deal of investments and a great deal of security with big institutions coming here with astronomical amounts of money. Dubai is still a new market, you can't expect everything to be perfect.

How to Photograph Fireworks

Fireworks photography is not as difficult as you may think. A little planning and know how will help you capture great fireworks photographs. With the 4th of July celebration being this Friday for those in the U.S., this is a great time to work on your fireworks photography. To help you capture the "perfect" fireworks photograph I have two lessons on fireworks photography. The first is a basic lesson and the second goes into more advanced issues to help you fine-tune your images. I also have a link to a great article from Sue Chastain, our Graphics Software Guide, on how to remove ugly backgrounds from your images when necissary.

The EA Community Manager Aaron Kaufman aka APOC had us guests stay for accommodations at the 5 Star Hotel, the Ritz Carlton, in Marina Del Ray, for the length of the stay, and after the showcase of C&C: Kane’s Wrath APOC took us all to the Staples Center for the Hockey game, Buffalo Sabers versus the Los Angeles Kings, all in all a great event, a great summit, and a great game.

Great War Nations: The Spartans PC review

Attention gamers: we have a mistitling in aisle five! The real-time strategy game known in America as Great War Nations: The Spartans should actually read The Fate of Hellas, as it does in Europe and the rest of the RTS loving world. This correction should clarify any confusion as to why a game apparently about Spartans also includes a Macedonian campaign. The reason for this can only point to something to do with name recognition and perhaps Gerard Butler, yet for World Forge’s inability to title correctly, they’ve managed to cobble together a respectable looking war.

Blog: Two great time-saving tips for Firefox 3

Blog: Two great time-saving tips for Firefox 3 You have likely heard it a million times already, Firefox 3 is a very nice improvement over version 2, especially in the performance department. And while many still prefer to stick to their own improved versions of Opera and Safari (sorry IE, you are a disgrace right now), Firefox is by far the most used alternative browser. I believe that comes in part thanks to its flexibility for customization and the myriad of useful add-ons you can get for it.

Some great CSS articles

I found this article today about how CSS can improve your SEO. The article discusses 4 ways you can use CSS to improve your search engine rankings. And the first three suggestions are great. They include streamlining your HTML, organizing your page content, and using headings to highlight content. I would strongly recommend you avoid the fourth suggestion. While it may work at first, it smacks of spamming because you're sending different information to the search engines than you are to the readers. And while not all search engines read CSS right now, it won't be long before they do.

The Great Outdoors 2008 Gallery

As we face the continued effects of global warming, pollution and industrialization, it is important to show just how precious our planet is and why we need to preserve it. It was with this thought in mind that Photo District News once again teamed up with National Geographic Traveler to introduce the first annual The Great Outdoors photo contest—a photographic competition that was deliberately created to celebrate the beauty of nature and humanity’s place in it, whether braving deadly waterfalls in a kayak or simply enjoying the breathtaking view of a garden from a nearby window.
