I’d name the first Beyond Good and Evil a winner of the Psychonauts Underappreciated Genius Award, except that BGE was released in 2003 and Psychonauts came out in 2005, so I guess it’s really the other way around.

LG's new enV2 is a good phone. But good isn't good enough now that the iPhone has shown what's possible. The enV2 packs plenty of good features into a comfortably small phone, but its software, including its Web browser, is inexcusable, writes Bruce Meyerson.

Metal Gear Solid 4. Looks like it's going to be good, doesn't it? But just how good, exactly? Just "Hmmm, this is fun, I'm glad I did buy a PS3 now" good? Or perhaps "There you go Hideo. My first-born child in recompense for this audio-visual wonder you have kindly bestowed upon my life" good?

Fool’s Gold was a pleasant surprise. There, I said it. I had to do some soul searching and life evaluating to write this review. That’s what this movie did for me. Well, not the movie itself, it’s not THAT kind of good. It’s fun good. It’s entertaining good. It’s good enough to make me wonder if a fluffy romantic comedy flick now and then wouldn’t be such a drain of my precious time. The conclusion, Fool’s Gold didn’t make me want to go find a mad scientist, invent a time machine, and go get those 2 hours of my life back, no. That’s a compliment folks, just in case you are not following my train of thought here..

Gamespot is one of many to report that Ubisoft has announced a sequel to their action adventure game "Beyond Good & Evil". "The teaser gave no details as to platforms or release date. However, as part of the company's earnings report last week, Ubisoft did say that it had a pair of unannounced sequels in existing franchises set for release by the end of March. Released in November of 2003, Beyond Good & Evil won critical acclaim for its mix of traditional action adventure elements with stealth segments, a picture-taking gameplay mechanic, and an engaging story of a young woman pulled into a rebel faction to blow the lid off of an interstellar government conspiracy. MANILA, Philippines -- Saying that patent applications provide a good indicator of the country's technological innovation, the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) of the Philippines urged local universities and research and development institutions to patent good ideas, and not be content in merely publishing them in academic papers.

A good rule to follow: hold onto your wallet when two exciting, complicated fields of research are combined. Nature reported earlier this spring on a good example of this, the announcement by a small biotech called Primegen that they'd used carbon nanotubes to reprogram stem cells. (Here's a good article from VentureBeat on the same announcement, and there's an excellent piece on the announcement and the company in Forbes).

"More and more, open source projects are either integrating with the web or are developed entirely for on-demand use. This requires strong web development skills--or at least good enough tools to rescue you if any of your web development skills are weak. The good news is that there are many free open source tools to help you with your web project, and given the costs of web development environments and the like, they can save you a lot of money. Here are more than five good examples.

Dozens of websites that permit people to rate, review, spin or flame their doctors have sprung up and operate in much the same way as online services that help people find the best hotels or avoid plumbers who overcharge. Patients and site operators say the trend is good for consumers and good for healthcare because good doctors will provide better customer service because of the feedback, and the bad ones will be exposed. But many doctors say the results are skewed by disgruntled patients and are thus unfair, pushing some doctors to near-ruin after a single post.

Impressed by those Beyond Good & Evil 2 screens yesterday? By all accounts what you see is pretty much what you’ll get, at least graphically-speaking. We were assured that what we were looking at was running in real-time too – and that’s frankly awesome news if it’s true. However the game’s CGI-style, filmic visuals just might say more about the gameplay than you imagine.
