I’ve been shooting photographs for longer than I care to remember – but switching from a 35MM SLR (Single Reflex Lens) and having “gone digital”, I never knew what I was missing until I had the opportunity to test-drive Nikon’s new 12.3 megapixel D90 Digital SLR. While it may have a little of the look and feel of the old cameras of days gone by, that’s where the similarities more or less end. There are so many feature and functions, there’s probably very little it can’t do.

Not all that long ago Mohammad Yousuf broke Viv Richards' record for Test runs in a calendar year. This week the Pakistan Cricket Board labelled Yousuf a "turncoat", seemingly ending his international career. Neither event attracted much interest, and so 2006 looks more sure than ever to be the crowning achievement of a batsman unappreciated in his own time.

Leona Lewis has signed a deal to write her autobiography. I fail to see why this would be of interest to anyone. She led a fairly unremarkable life until two years ago and as soon as things started to get interesting, everything she's done has been televised. Good luck to the girl and all that but it won't be going on my Amazon wish list.

Melding the occult and something approaching quantum physics, "The Dreams in the Witch House" from Wildclaw Theatre (currently at the Athenaeum) is a study in mood. Elaborate, creepy and baroque, the storytelling doesn't exactly track, but who cares when atmospherics are this good?
