China launches weather satellite

LHC admits petition against TV channel

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Acting Chief Justice Mian Najamuz Zaman on Thursday admitted for regular hearing a petition seeking registration of a case against the owners and staff of the Geo TV channel for running a story about Ajmal Kasab. Sardar Hur Bukhari, a Pakistan People’s Party leader, had filed the petition. The petitioner submitted that the Muslim Town police had refused to register a case against the channel owners and staff for claiming in the story that Ajmal Kasab was a resident of Faridkot. He said that the report damaged the country’s image at international level and also gave an opportunity to the Indian channels to propagate against Pakistan. He prayed that directions be issued to the Muslim Town station house officer and superintendent of police concerned to register a case against those allegedly responsible for an
