Remember the '80s? You know, the decade that playing a beat on your chest passed as music? Just me? Wow...I am getting old. Anyway, you can relive those days with a high-tech upgrade thanks to this electronic drum kit shirt from Think Geek. That's right, you can actually play seven different drum sounds through a built-in speaker by tapping on different areas of the shirt. As you can see in the video, the effect is awesome—but the whole thing has reminded me of Bobby McFerrin, which has reminded me of that God-awful Don't Worry Be Happy song, which is now deeply entrenched in my head. Damn you, Bobby McFerrin...damn you to hell. [Think Geek]

GovIT Geek writes to tell us that third-party websites will no longer be off limits for members of the US House, provided that they use it for "official purposes" and not personal, commercial, or campaign purposes. "The rules are seen by House Administration Chairman Robert Brady as a compromise between several proposals under consideration in recent months and are closely aligned with those circulated by the Senate Rules Committee last week. [...] 'These new guidelines are a step in the right direction for a Congress that has been behind the technological curve for too long,' Boehner said. 'By encouraging the use of emerging and established new media tools, Congress is sending the message that we want to speak to citizens, and receive feedback, in the most open and accessible manner possible.

Mini-Geek and many others tipped news that Blizzard has announced the release date for Wrath of the Lich King , World of Warcraft's second expansion. It will be in stores on November 13th in the US and Europe. They've also released details about the contents of the Collector's Edition. Wrath will be preceded by a large content patch, which will expand the talent trees and include many of the gameplay changes set for the expansion (including the consolidation of spell damage and healing into 'spellpower,' achievements, and a new profession). The patch was installed on the public test realm yesterday, and the current patch notes are available.

If you need a Christmas gift for an insomniac geek, look no further. This book is clearly the product of an extremely well-informed and thorough blogger, Mary Jo Foley, who has been following the fortunes of Microsoft and its key players for many years. She clearly knows a great deal of what goes on behind the scenes in Redmond and presents a plethora of facts about roles within the organisation and details of products. There are dozens of named individuals in Microsoft 2.0 but the book gives no real insight into the personalities and motivation of those who will run Microsoft now that Bill Gates has retired to spend more time with his billions.
