An anonymous reader writes "Gazan resident Abed Ar-Rahman has revealed what he is claiming as an alternative to cooking gas that he developed since Israel has prevented deliveries of cooking gas to Gaza. He invented a device using chemical substances available in Gaza, which burn when mixed and brought into contact with oxygen. The first component is a metal filter that controls the interaction between 40% of the oxygen in the surrounding air, the inflammable substance and some other substances."

By Matt Daily NEW YORK, Dec 19 (Reuters) - Global spending on oil and gas exploration and production will shrink 12 percent to $400 billion in 2009 as the steep slide in energy prices and tight credit markets reverse a six-year trend of rising budgets, analysts at Barclays Capital said on Friday. and the price for the two most common sources of heat, oil and natural gas are dropping? Isn't it wonderful when you can have a pretend market for commodities where you can trade paper and make huge profits without ever having to actually deliver the goods that you sold? One day soon people are actually going to want some heating oil or natural gas, not the paper variety but the real thing. When that day arrives I sure wouldn't want to be one of the guys who agreed to sell it to them for a pittance of what they will be willing to pay when they can't actually find any. At these prices, exploration will cease. Better stock up on woolies and water bottles.” – From Wellsitteron the Connacher Oil & Gas (TSX: T.CLL, Stock Forum) Bullboard.
