Following on from the success of our Windows Vista TechRadar Sidebar gadget, we're pleased to say we've got one for Google Desktop, too. Created by Grade A gadget builders BuildAGadget.com, you can also tweak lots of the configuration options such as the auto scroll timer as well as the number of stories displayed at any one time. You can also resize the gadget.

Google Docs offers a solid set of "productivity in the cloud" features that allow users to get basic office work done with nothing but a browser. Earlier this year, Google took steps towards improving one of Google Docs' weakest areas—offline access—and now it's taking another with a new gadget that provides desktop access and drop-and-drop uploading. This isn't the silver bullet that Google Docs needs to start making a serious dent in Microsoft Office's market share, but it's another move in that direction.
