Sony's Image Sensing Solutions division has announced the launch of its second high definition FCB camera module. The new FCB-H11 builds on the success of 2007's FCB-H10, bringing several new features to the renowned performance. This includes an ability to work in low light conditions through the addition of an auto ICR (IR Cut Filter Removable), which enables a day/night function and operation at an industry leading 1lx for true high definition resolution. The client is Deutsche Bank Bauspar AG. The 'Web extension' to the existing Host functionality required the Cobol components to be mapped to Java-enabled counterparts in the Web world in order to preserve the original functionality. The solution was a web-based system for management of savings and loan association accounts, with internal verification of applications, fully integrated with existing Host application. Deutsche Bank Bauspar AG used the ArcStyler to model the entire system and generate the executable infrastructure. Several UML models describe the complete application at various levels of abstraction, with added technology-specific detail at each level of refinement.

floydman writes "Apparently the Egyptian government is paranoid about its community using GPS devices, to the degree that it demanded Apple remove any GPS functionality from its iPhone 3G. They claim that 'GPS functionality should be limited to military purposes.' Egyptian blogger Ahmed Gabr brought this issue up in another article, and talks about how this does not make sense, since Google maps and the like can be used. I also happen to know for a fact that most of the modern cars in Egypt have built-in GPS systems."

There's something in the AIR for Linux users

Today, Adobe made live its Linux release of AIR. AIR provides web browser-style development that moves beyond standard browsing by adding platform-specific programming features including windowing and file access. With AIR, developers can release applications that provide all of the standard web style functionality including Flash, Javacript and HTML. The AIR libraries turn that functionality into standalone applications that can be launched outside of traditional browsers.
