Seattle-based online retailer Amazon.com said Wednesday that the firm is opening up a new fulfillment center, located in the Phoenix, Arizona suburb of Goodyear. Amazon.com said that the new facility will be more than 500,000 square feet, and will employ 600 full time positions. The company expects to open the new facility during the third quarter of the year. Amazon.com also said that it will employ an additional 700 in temporary positions during the 2008 holiday season. The facility is the second for the firm in the Phoenix area--the company opened another Phoenix area fulfillment center last year.
