BLAIRSVILLE, GA, Jan 05 (MARKET WIRE) -- United Community Banks, Inc. (NASDAQ: UCBI) announced today an updated outlook on credit quality for the fourth quarter of 2008. United expects its fourth quarter loan loss provision and charge-offs to remain at elevated levels due to continued credit deterioration and current economic conditions, particularly in the residential construction portfolio in the Atlanta market. United also expects to increase its loan loss reserve for the quarter. The estimate for the fourth quarter loan loss provision is $85 million, with an expected $74 million in charge-offs and an $11 million build-up in the allowance for loan losses to 2.14% of total loans. United plans to release fourth quarter 2008 financial results on January 23, 2009, before the stock market opens.

TORONTO — Rogers Communications Inc. (TSX:RCI) says sales of Apple iPhones slowed during the fourth quarter to about half of what they had been in the summer, when they were new to the Canadian market. About 130,000 new iPhone accounts were created during the quarter and 40 per cent of those were new subscribers, Rogers said Tuesday. The results were a drastic slide from the 255,000 iPhone accounts activated by Canada’s largest wireless network in from July to September. Two-thirds of those were for existing customers. Rogers said Apple’s iPhone helped boost the number of new wireless subscribers in the fourth quarter by about three per cent to 199,000 in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008, compared with 183,000 new additions in the year-ago period.

(NOK: News ), the world's biggest maker of mobile phones, on Thursday lowered its forecast for mobile device industry volumes for the fourth quarter of 2008 saying that the slowdown in the mobile devices market has continued more rapidly than previously expected.
