An anonymous reader writes "Canadian telco TELUS sold a bunch of (expensive) Unlimited EV-DO aircard accounts last winter and are now summarily canceling them or forcing people to switch to much less valuable plans. TELUS is citing 'Violations,' but their Terms Of Service (see #5) are utterly vague and self-contradictory. The TELUS plans were marketed as being unlimited, without the soft/hard caps that the other providers had at the time. They were purchased by a lot of rural Canadians who had no other choice except dialup. Now TELUS is forcing everyone to switch from a $75 Unlimited plan to a $65 1GB plan, and canceling those who won't switch. Mainichi newspaper has also been forcing the companies with forums that they can put pressure on to delete all posts by members that have anything at all to do with waiwai. The posts go back even 3 years. this does not seem in the spirit of free speech. free speech which allowed Mainichi to grow as a newspaper. I am surprised this website still has anything about waiwai.

Jul 14, 2008 (Inside Retailing - ABIX via COMTEX) -- PYPL | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- EBay has filed a section 93 notification with the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC). The online trading site wants to restrict the payment methods available to its users from 17 June 2008 to cash on delivery and PayPal, which the auction service owns. The restrictions would apply to all but the largest of items. Ebay argues that its action is for the good of its users and therefore the ACCC should approve it. However, some believe it amounts to "exclusive dealing", as outlined in section 47 of the Trade Practices Act.

bluefoxlucid writes "According to The Register, several banks are forcing users to opt-in to the Verified by Visa optional service by locking their cards if and when they encounter a Verified by Visa participating site and fail to opt-in. Register reader Steve says, 'This seems like a strange way to implement a voluntary system. On most of the retailers' websites there is no clue that you are about to be challenged by Verified by Visa until you attempt to complete the transaction. This means that you trigger the "fraud protection" unintentionally. And when you have located a retailer who doesn't require Verified by Visa to complete a purchase, you can't because your account is on hold.' Further, '[I]n some cases resetting the password is all too easy.
