Court directs Sony TV to delect objectionable scene of OSO

Acting on a petition filed by yesteryear actor-filmmaker Manoj Kumar, a local court today directed Sony Entertainment Channel to delete a scene from the film 'Om Shanti Om' that he found objectionable, before it is aired on the channel on August 10. The Additional Session Court Judge R T Mahajan delivered the order, asked the channel to ''either delete the portion or not to telecast the film.'' Mr Kumar had filed a case against Shah Rukh Khan, producer of the film, its director Ms Farah Khan and Sony entertainment channel, seeking deletion of a scene from the film, showing him being insulted.

Each theme is full of wonderful chances for nice satirical jabs and the film hits on some of them, but it often makes the film seem like its changing gears abruptly.

Fox Home Entertainment has announced The Happening which stars Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel. The M. Night Shyamalan directed film will be available to own from the 7th October, and should retail at around $29.98. The film will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Extras will include deleted scenes with introductions from M. Night Shyamalan, behind the scenes featurettes (The Hard Cut, A Day for Night, Elements of a Scene, Visions of The Happening: A Making of, I Hear You Whispering) and a gag reel. A Blu-ray release will also be available for $39.98 with all of the above, plus scene specific PIP, 2 short featurettes (Train Shooting, Forces Unseen), and a digital copy of the film. John Woo's "Red Cliff" has set a box office record for a domestic movie in China, Reuters reported. The film, which has earned about 302 million yuan, or $44 million, since it opened on July 10, surpassed the previous domestic record set by "Curse of the Golden Flower," according to a report on Sohu.com, a Chinese Web site. The budget for the Woo film, $80 million, made it China's most expensive. "Red Cliff," which stars Tony Leung and Takeshi Kaneshiro, will open the Tokyo International Film Festival on Oct. 18. "Titanic," which holds the box office record in China, earned about $53 million.
