Brad Taylor, Google’s Gmail Spam Czar, has just posted details on the ongoing cooperation with PayPal and Ebay, two ofSender ID (SIDF) and DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) the most targeted brands in phishing emails, the effect of which is rejecting compared to flagging as spam each and every email pretending to be coming from paypal.com and ebay.com as well as from their international domain extensions. It’s a win-win-win move for users, and the companies themselves which are now digitally signing all of their emails, making phishing emails spoofing their origin easier to detect :

For a few years now, we've been covering the battle between TorrentSpy and the MPAA. While TorrentSpy has given in and shut down on the question concerning the operations of its business, there was a separate legal question that is still being fought in court. As we noted recently, TorrentSpy has appealed the judge's ruling that the MPAA didn't break any laws in gaining access to its executives' emails. As you may recall, the MPAA hired a guy who hacked into TorrentSpy's servers to send copies of all the emails to himself first, which he then sold to the MPAA (he later regretted this decision and confessed to TorrentSpy, which is what resulted in the lawsuit in the first place). When the issue first came up in court, the MPAA played dumb, and pretended that it assumed the guy had legal access to the emails.

Strong Bad is an animated Mexican wrestler with boxing gloves for hands and the undoubted star of surreal cartoon site Homestar Runner. Assisted by a strangely shaped animal-of-questionable-species and hindered by his high-pitched, fragile sister, Strong Bad's main spot is answering reader's emails - of which there are hundreds to happily plough through if you've not been here before. Most recently he was asked to perform a magic trick and shared his thoughts on "moneygicians" - people who blow their life savings on "gaze mazing" props - and their strange sub-category, "flowy sleeved moneygicians". Like South Park and Modern Toss, Strong Bad isn't exactly beautiful to look at but he's relentlessly funny.

If you are a Blackberry (RIMM) user, you are familiar with the fact that emails containing HTML links (graphics) don’t display the graphics, but rather cause you to have to scroll down past that jibberish HTML text. It’s ugly and annoying, but those of us who are engineering-minded know the reason we have to suffer through this sub-optimal experience: bandwidth. By stripping each email of all of those colors and pictures, less bandwidth is utilized.

I have had quite a couple of emails from my newsletter subscribers complaining that the internet is springing up with so many ideas and ways to make money online, but all of these are nothing more than ways to suck money out of poor individuals who are searching for a legitimate and genuine online home business. Some of them are of the opinion that you have got to have the technical know how to build and maintain a website or invest massively to have some one build this for you just to run your online home business. I even had one subscriber email me saying, "the only think I know how to do on the internet aside sending emails, is surf the web, can you please give detailed instructions on how to start an online home business for someone like me".

schliz writes with the stub of a disheartening article at IT News: "Hackers are deluging web users with malware-laden spam claiming that World War III has started following a US invasion of Iran. Security experts warned [yesterday] that spam emails with subject lines including 'Third World War has begun,' '20000 US Soldiers in Iran,' and 'US Army crossed Iran's borders' have been intercepted. The emails contain links to a malicious webpage that displays what appears to be a video player showing the mushroom cloud of a nuclear explosion."
