More choke than KP's car - Derbyshire at Lord's

Ed the Duck reports on an absorbing day of first class cricket at Lord's. A bit like "a ton on taboo", Ed the Duck pulls no punches in describing the day as he saw it. Ged the ed (not "Ed") chimes in with his own observations and quips, but only in the spirit of encouraging Ed the Duck to bar no holds the next time. Many thanks to Ed for a smashing debut.

Up and coming Czech artist Kate™ina ed

Forty inhabitants of the village of Líšeň on the outskirts of Brno receive instructions before they get off the bus at the Berlin Wall to take part in the annual Biennial of Art. Near the wall are exact copies of fences they have in their backyards at home. In a while they’ll be climbing over to meet their neighbours. For many of them, it will be the first time they’ll shake hands or talk to each other. The person who brought them together is the Czech artist Kateřina edá. When we met in Prague, I ask her where she got this idea in the first place:

Palm Readies the Palm 2.0 OS

David Flynn from the Australian computer magazine APC wrote in and let us know about an interview he had with Ed Colligan recently when Colligan was there for the local launch of the Centro. David chatted with Ed on a wide range of subjects including the 'Palm 2.0' OS, a possible return for the Foleo (as a prosumer brand, a product or perhaps both?) and why, in the face of competition from BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Apple, "why Palm doesn't just give up and go home...". David got a great interview.

Blog Buzz: Afghanistan, Oil, and Immigration

Both Barack Obama and John McCain are popping up all over the blogs because of their plans for Afghanistan. In Obama's Monday op-ed in the New York Times, he said that his top priority after ending the war in Iraq would be to increase the presence of U.S. troops in Afghanistan to fight al Qaeda and the Taliban. Some liberal bloggers approve; others are unconvinced that his strategy is plausible, while others are simply stumped. Conservative bloggers agree on the importance of finishing work in Afghanistan but are very critical of Obama's "incoherent" op-ed and "hollow rhetoric". McCain has also called for a surge in troops in Afghanistan.

35 Articles of Impeachment Introduced Against Bush

vsync64 writes "Last night, Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) spent 4 hours reading into the Congressional Record 35 articles of impeachment against George W. Bush. Interestingly, those articles (63-page PDF via Coral CDN) include not just complaints about signing statements and the war in Iraq, but also charges that the President "Sp[ied] on American Citizens, Without a Court-Ordered Warrant, in Violation of the Law and the Fourth Amendment,' 'Direct[ed] Telecommunications Companies to Create an Illegal and Unconstitutional Database of the Private Telephone Numbers and Emails of American Citizens,' and 'Tamper[ed] with Free and Fair Elections.' These are issues near and dear to the hearts of many here, so it's worth discussing. What little mainstream media coverage there is tends to be brief (USA Today, CBS News, UPI, AP, Reuters).

Ed Burnette: There is no Google Android delay

When Google and its partners in the Open Handset Alliance announced the Android platform last November, they predicted that phones loaded with the software would hit the market in the 2nd half of 2008. So when you read that (*gasp*) Android phones have been “delayed” until the 4th quarter of 2008, keep that in mind. Last I checked, 4th quarter was still considered part of the 2nd half of the year, folks.
