(Nanowerk News) Die Nanotechnologien wecken zahlreiche Hoffnungen. Sie bieten die Chance auf neue Produkte und Absatzmärkte, auf medizinischen Fortschritt, auf die Schonung von Ressourcen und Umwelt. Gleichzeitig können sie aber auch Risiken für Mensch und Umwelt bergen. Die Kenntnisse hierüber sind allerdings noch gering. Ungeachtet dessen befinden sich schon heute zahlreiche Produkte auf dem Markt, die Nanokomponenten enthalten oder mit nanotechnologischen Verfahren hergestellt wurden. "Es ist daher dringend notwendig, Nanotechnologien unvoreingenommen zu bewerten und Wege für ihre verantwortungsvolle Nutzung aufzuzeigen", fordert Martin Möller, Experte für die Nachhaltigkeitsbewertung neuer Technologien am Öko-Institut. We all know that Microsoft have introduced the new Jasper chip for the Xbox 360, this new chip should address the problem of the RROD. The new Jasper chipset has a 65nm die compared to the older 90nm die. The new chip only uses 150-watts of power, so much less drain on the system.
