Resident Evil 5 Demo, Special Edition Detailed

In the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu magazine, Capcom revealed the first details behind the demo version of Resident Evil 5 -- which, so far anyway, has only been announced for the Xbox 360 version. The demo, which covers two stages set around the African town of Kijuju, is slated to hit the Xbox Live Marketplace on December 5 in Japan. Gamers will need a Gold Membership to download the demo, but it'll be worth it because the demo -- just like the full game -- can be played completely online in co-op mode. Neat.

Left 4 Dead public demo released

While the demo has been available for gamers who pre-ordered Left 4 Dead for a few days now, today Valve released the demo for everyone else in the general public, with the game hitting Xbox Live as well as Steam. The demo features two levels from the final game, which will be released one week from today on Nov 18th.

Left 4 Dead Early Access Demo Begins Early Thursday

Early access to the Left 4 Dead demo begins Thursday, November 6 on both the PC and Xbox 360. The early demo access is scheduled to begin around 2 am PST on the Xbox 360 and 7 am PST on the PC.

Left 4 Dead Demo Includes Linux Steam Client Libraries

SheeEttin writes "If you've been longing to play games from Steam on your Linux machine, you may not have to wait much longer — the Left 4 Dead demo includes some Linux libraries, in particular, one named 'steamclient_linux.so.' While the game's full release does not include these libraries, their apparently accidental inclusion in the demo suggests that Steam games will have native Linux clients in the near future. (A job listing at Valve looking for someone whose responsibilities would include 'Port[ing] Windows-based games to the Linux platform' would seem to support this.) The libraries also include several strings nonessential to a pure server, including references to forgotten passwords. Hopefully, this indicates that at least some Valve-affiliated games will have native Linux clients.
