The Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone deals are coming in thick and fast. Days after Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) announced a 10-country deal to carry the iPhone, and Telecom Italia said it too would sell the device in Italy, comes news that Mexico telecoms firm America Movil will bring the device to its Latin American operations later this year, which includes over a dozen countries. Again, like the Vodafone deal, no mention if this is exclusive or not. Bloomberg reports, however, that Apple’s latest agreement won’t have a significant impact on iPhone sales. According to Yankee Group analyst Willy Swain most people in the region who can afford the device already have one—that is an unlocked one.

Anonymous Oddity writes "The Washington Post is reporting that the Justice Department's investigating the Yahoo-Google advertising deal. Obviously the deal controls a massive portion of the internet advertising market. US Antitrust law isn't entirely intuitive, but it does tend to frown on large deals between companies that operate on the same level if those deals can be interpreted as restrictive of trade."

After losing out to its rival O2 last year, Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) has struck a deal with Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) to sell the iPhone in ten countries, reports Reuters. Those countries include Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey, according to the operator, which didn’t give any more details on the agreement. When the iPhone first launched in Europe last fall, Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin called the 2.5 G handset a “pretty poor experience”. The operator also ended up suing O2 in Germany, alleging that its rival network didn’t have the right to sell the iPhone exclusively. Indeed, in a break with Apple’s usual practice Vodafone’s deal in Italy isn’t an exclusive, as Telecom Italia will also sell the handset.
