This is an invite-only conference that few media get to attend, but apparently McFeters was brought in with co-worker Rob Carter to talk about some vulnerabilities they had discovered with a few product security teams in attendence, and was also asked to do a guest blog posting about the conference at the Microsoft Blue Hat blog. McFeters also included several pictures of the conference and after conference events."

Linux Plumbers Conference Registration Open

The Linux Plumbers Conference is a working conference. LPC brings together the top developers working on the "plumbing" of Linux - kernel subsystems, core libraries, windowing system, etc. - and gives them three days to work together on core design problems. The conference is organized into several half-day microconferences focusing on individual subsystems. Since the microconfs are co-located, developers can meet face-to-face with experts from other subsystems to solve problems that span project boundaries. This kind of cross-project collaboration usually only happens in the unofficial "hallway track" at conferences. LPC makes the hallway track a priority.

Great Indian Developer Conference

I spent last week in India attending the Great Developer Indian Conference (GDIC) that took place in Bangalore, in the Institute of Science, one of the most prestigious graduate schools in the country. I’ve been wearing two hats there – a speaker and a vendor – and can testify that organization of the conference (Saltmarch Media) was great –transportation, hotel, food, parties – all were top notch. I’d say it’s the most speaker-friendly conference I’ve been so far, and I usually speak at three-four conferences a year.

CCC Conference Examines Copyright Issues From Four Distinct Angles

Copyright Clearance Center hosted its first-ever copyright conference at the Union League Club in New York City last Thursday. OnCopyright 2008 was an engaging, cerebral affair that featured four long panel discussions, each of which examined copyright issues from a different perspective, including technology, society, law, and the arts. Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) President and CEO Tracey Armstrong noted that, while her organization has been providing licensing and permissions services to businesses, publishers, academic institutions, and authors for 30 years, it has rarely insinuated itself into the public discourse about copyright policies and practices. Thursday’s conference provided CCC a unique opportunity to "open minds" through a more evolved discussion, according to Armstrong.
