The DNA of the comedian Stephen Colbert will be digitized and sent to the International Space Station, The Associated Press reported. Richard Garriott, a video-game designer, is planning to travel to the station in October and deposit Colbert's data as part of a project called "Immortality Drive." For the project, Garriott is creating a time capsule composed of digitized human DNA. "In the unlikely event that Earth and humanity are destroyed, mankind can be resurrected with Stephen Colbert's DNA," Garriott said in a statement. "Is there a better person for us to turn to for this high-level responsibility?"

An anonymous reader writes "Democratic politicians receive a 40% increase in contributions in the 30 days after appearing on the comedy cable show The Colbert Report. In contrast, their Republican counterparts essentially gain nothing. Moreover, even a cursory analysis demonstrates that despite being a comedy program The Colbert Report appears to exercise 'disproportionate real world influence' — likely due to the 'elite demographic' of its audience." In my home we refer to Stephen as "Loud Daddy" because my child would scream bloody murder when we paused him (and only him) on screen. Even at 8 months old the kid has strange taste.

Just days after Steve Jobs revealed to the world that the iPhone has a kill-switch, allowing Apple to remotely remove any dodgy apps from your iPhone, hackers have already found a way to disable it. This will no doubt please US comedian Stephen Colbert, who's reaction to the kill-switch news you can see by viewing the full story.

This is old news for those who follow the legal machinations of musicians, but I didn’t know about it until I saw Jackson Browne appear on “The Colbert Report” on Monday (no, I don’t get ALL my news from Colbert, just the stuff related to musicians who sue people). Jackson Browne, apparently, is suing John McCain and the GOP over the use of the song “Running on Empty” by the Ohio Republican Party in a television advertisement. This follows a number of high-profile demands from other musicians, such as Van Halen and Heart, to prevent McCain from playing their songs at campaign rallies.
