Boys choir director dies at age of 62 Article

Vienna. Eugen Jesser, the director and president of the world-famous Wiener Sängerknaben (Vienna Boy’s Choir), has died on Sunday, aged 62. Jesser was a member of the choir as a boy and became president in 2001. He had been a member of the Federal Ministry for Education since 1970, and directed the department for out-of-school youth education since 1992. He was awarded the Great Decoration of the Republic of Austria, and of the City of Vienna. He was also awarded the Austrian Medal for Science and Art 1st Class. In his time as President of the Boy's Choir, he oversaw the refurbishment of the Palais Augarten, where the Choir is headquartered.

THE Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Mass Choir has been invited to tour Europe from June 23 till July 23. The tour will take place within the framework of an artistic co-operation between la Marmite and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Choir.

Belle Canto is a provincially recognized 12-person choir. In May 2007 the choir won the Olga Nickle Memorial Foundation Scholarship. The Alberta Music Festival Association presented the scholarship for their first place performance in the choral ensemble category.
