nYko really seems to know what accessories and peripherals gamers want. Just recently they released an Energy Pak for the Wii's Balance Board to prevent gamers from having to replace batteries over and over. This time, it is something similar, yet still excellent. Xbox 360 controllers will eventually have their batteries run out of juice, or you'll have to use a USB charger in order to have your wireless controller up and running again. A charge base will not only recharge the controllers for you, but it also looks pretty cool having the controller docked onto it, almost like a display.

Current proposals include a $3 monthly charge in return for access to the Napster catalogue that contains around 600,000 tracks. Students could be offered with unlimited downloads but would be forced to fork out a $0.99 charge on any tracks or $9.95 for an album that is burnt to a CD or MP3 player. MusicNet are currently operating a similar two-month pilot scheme at Yale University.

Let's hold off on the inevitable comparisons to Spiderman for the moment, but being able to scale a vertical surface is a pretty neat trick that, until now, has been limited to the likes of spiders, insects and geckos. Now researchers at SRI International, with funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, have developed a new technology that enables robotic devices to scale walls. The technology even has a cool sounding name - compliant electroadhesion. The technology works by creating a negative charge on the surface being scaled and an opposing positive charge in the robot. Since opposite charges attract, the electrically controlled adhesion enables the robot to stick to various surfaces including brick, concrete, steel, drywall and glass.

Techdirt is reporting that while we all know privacy policies may not matter much in the grand scheme of things, a recent study shows that it may be even worse than originally surmised. It seems that the real issue is with who has access to personal data and what they are able to do with it. "of course, it's not just the people reading the policies that don't seem to understand them -- it's those in charge of living up to and enforcing the policies. A new study surveyed a bunch of executives, including both marketing execs and those in charge of enforcing the privacy policy, and quickly discovered that marketers have a very different concept of 'privacy' than privacy officers. Not surprisingly, they don't see anything wrong with sharing all sorts of data that seems to horrify privacy officers.
