Court directs Sony TV to delect objectionable scene of OSO

Acting on a petition filed by yesteryear actor-filmmaker Manoj Kumar, a local court today directed Sony Entertainment Channel to delete a scene from the film 'Om Shanti Om' that he found objectionable, before it is aired on the channel on August 10. The Additional Session Court Judge R T Mahajan delivered the order, asked the channel to ''either delete the portion or not to telecast the film.'' Mr Kumar had filed a case against Shah Rukh Khan, producer of the film, its director Ms Farah Khan and Sony entertainment channel, seeking deletion of a scene from the film, showing him being insulted.

Smithsonian Channel content to be offered on iTunes

The Smithsonian Channel has begun offering video content on Apple's iTunes Store, as pointed out by the Associated Press. Currently, the time frame for the launch is unknown, but according to the article, the shows will go for the usual price of $1.99. The channel currently carries carries offerings on History, Natural Wonders, America's Stories, and Smithsonian Kids.

Sundance VOD Channel to Offer Unreleased Indie Films

Los Angeles - Rainbow Media's (NYSE: CVC) newly-acquired Sundance Channel plans to launch a new video-on-demand service for cable and satellite systems that will offer some of the many films submitted and screened at the Sundance Film Festival that did not receive a theatrical release, the Los Angeles Times reports. Sundance Selects aims to offer 50 new titles a year, more than a third of which will be nonfiction; movies on the service are expected to cost $7 or $8 each. Rainbow also operates the independent film video-on-demand services IFC in Theaters and IFC Festival Direct. The company told the Times it currently has no plans to bring Sundance Selects online.
