Picutre taken in 2007 shows the magnet core of the world's largest superconducting solenoid magnet (CMS, Compact Muon Solenoid) near Geneva. CMS is one of the experiments preparing to take data at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) particule accelerator. CERN said it will start up its massive particle accelerator on September 10 hoping that it could throw light on the origins of the universe.
