The commercial audio CD may not exactly be doomed, but it is certainly under fire from the new media player technologies. I don't see much use of the DVD as a sharing format (the iPod strikes again ?), but I have seen some excellent video productions on DVD from a few students. I expect to do more with the format, as both storage and playback medium, but I doubt that it will gain significant ground against the portable players."
