It?s All About Bull Riding and Bikinis at XYZ.com?s No Bull Party

How was this missed last year? XYZ.com is hosting its second annual No Bull Party Sunday November 2 at Johny Utah’s in New York to kick off ad:tech 2008. There will be drink tickets. There will be mechanical bull riding. There will (yes!) be a bikini bull riding contest. It all begins at 9PM with the bikini bull riding contest at 10:30 after everyone’s properly liquored up and cares about potential embarrassment and unintentionally flashed body parts are cast aside.

Deflation Overload?

Resources from Robert Prechter's Elliottwave International have been presented on Biiwii.com since the site's creation in 2004. This is despite Prechter having become somewhat of a laughing stock in many quarters of the inflation-stoked bull market (RIP 2003-2007) and deflation having been successfully whipped in the previous cycle. Unlike many 'Inflationistas' [see http://biiwii.blogspot.com/2008/07/i-inflationista.html] I kept EWI in mind through the entirety of the bull market where myths of commodity super cycles and the idea that oil was anything other than a bubble were born. I hope readers did as well. Much of EWI's advice has been vital in dealing with the deflationary pressures now outwardly obvious in the system.

No bull: Miami sewage station could become work of art

Miami officials would like to turn an unsightly sewage pump house on Biscayne Boulevard into a work of art. And they're going to get lots of suggestions on how to do it.

Andy Bull: profiteering vulgarity - like cricket used to be

When the Barmy Army cocks a snook at a match because it is beneath them, you know these are strange times for cricket. The boisterous hordes who support England have decided to shun Sir Allen Stanford's Super Series. 'Only three people are going who we'd term Barmy Army,' Paul Winslow, the club spokesman, said. 'It's not a huge attraction for several reasons; the main one being that we are Test match purists. Although we will watch Twenty20 cricket, going out of our way to watch it is not something many people are interested in.'

Andy Bull: who'll fill the gap at the top of world cricket?

There are now four nations capable of beating each other in Test cricket, but which is best equipped to become the game's new dominant force?

Recession Presents Bull Market For Advertising

In uncertain—well, frightening—economic times it stands to reason that businesses would be looking to trim their budgets where they can. Some think that means advertising will naturally suffer. On the contrary, when is there a better time to seek new customers?

Dow Bear, Commodities Bull: Best of the Boards/Blogs

I think that market conditions are the reason that it [the share price] is dropping. People are not as brave as they were in investing in companies that can only offer projections and nothing tangible.” From viomon2, on the Tirex Resources (TSX: T.TXX, Stock Forum) Bullboard.

Woodchopper gets baggy green

Bull 12:35pm today Comment 9 of 10 - When Johnson was selected for the Australian team he was a QLD'er at the time. So not only do you have to be 3rd generation (at least) to be called QLDer once you decide to move on you lose that status. Bit harsh. What would a QLD'er class Alan Border as seeing as he was born in NSW and also played for them.

The dialectic of wearing an iPod

Michael Bull’s new book says we wear iPods in order to escape alienation and ‘chilly’ urban landscapes. Maybe, but it’s not the whole story.

Art and Sports, Meeting on a Level Playing Field

Shaun El C. Leonardo's installation "Bull in the Ring," above, evokes the intimidation and ritual of the football training routine. At left, Brian Jungen's "Prototype for New Understanding #23" gives Nike Air Jordans the appearance of an artifact you'd find in a natural history museum.

Banksy's new show outshines the Turner prize shortlist

Sometimes I feel like Jake LaMotta in Martin Scorsese's Raging Bull when he's in prison, banging his head against the wall until it's bloody, sobbing "You're so stupid, so stupid." Banksy really pissed me off - until I saw the 2008 Turner Prize exhibition. I don't have much feeling for this man's scratchy cartoon rats and his bloody obvious politics, and the omnipresence of his coffee table book seems a manifestation of cultural laziness. How can anyone see depth in his clod-hopping jokes? And depth is what matters in art. The inner life is what matters.

Help! My 401(k) Is Melting

It has been a rough few weeks in the market, and nothing creates a bull market in investment advice like market turbulence. It seems like every morning brings, along with a fresh round of gut-wrenching news about bailouts and bank disasters and commodity price jolts, a fresh round of "what to do with your 401(k)" stories from the major media.

Commodities - long considered to be an efficient asset diversifier - have not been spared in the recent global financial market mayhem. While the bull run was perceived to have been driven by the demand from emerging markets and broader supply constraints, the recent fall in prices has kept investors wondering over the prospects of a recovery, tells
