(An old friend in Washington D.C.--where Blackberry users are legion--had to make a vow after her third child was born not to check her e-mail after 6 p.m.)

A bit more tricklage on RIM's "Apple Killer," the touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder: The official model number is the BlackBerry 9500, and the touchscreen is a bit higher res than the iPhone's (360x480 to 320x480). It'll be running OS 4.7.0 (the Bold runs 4.6). As we inch closer to the September release date expect to hear a lot more, since RIM's ship ain't exactly the tightest one on the seven seas. Unveiled on Monday, the BlackBerry Bold - also known as the BlackBerry 9000 - includes not only tri-band HSDPA but also integrated GPS and 802.11a/b/g wi-fi. It is not the first BlackBerry to use any kind of 3G at all - that honour would go to the 8707v, which came out in 2006 - but such connectivity has been extremely rare in BlackBerry devices since then, with the slower Edge standard being used instead.

New Delhi, May 20: Makers of BlackBerry have agreed to give the security agencies the key required to intercept messages sent through the device. This move could compromise security of mails sent through BlackBerry. BlackBerry is used by top businessmen, politicians and mediapersons, who are most prone to eavesdropping. "Misuse of the key by the security agencies can’t be ruled out, even phone tapping regularly happens in India," said a telecom analyst. Another analyst said that most businesspersons send their corporate mails through BlackBerry and now it could be accessible.

Although Sprint announced in February that it would receive a new iDEN BlackBerry, it has otherwise kept quiet on the issue, leaving most information to media leaks and speculation. The new device is expected to help revive Sprint's struggling iDEN network, whose most recent BlackBerry is the outdated 7100i.
