Intro to PHP + Oracle

"PHP also now supports a whole host of object oriented features, if that suits your fancy. You'll find abstract classes for prototyping, use of the final classes to prevent further subclassing. PHP also supports overloading, thus multiple functions with the same name but different parameters, allow the PHP interpreter to choose which function to call at runtime. You'll also find private and protected member variables as well as constructors, and destructors.

Scientists and researchers need to work on breakthrough technologies like nanotechnology and biotechnology in order to lower the levels of green gas emissions, President Pratibha Patil said on Friday. Speaking at the 46 th convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai, Patil also stressed the importance of technology to minimise terrorist attacks. “There is an increasing number of terrorist attacks in the country and there is a need of security apparatus that can be addressed through technology,” said Patil. Canon Kicks Out New Camera Models; 5D MkII Shoots Full HD Video

Canon has been relatively quiet on new releases recently, with cameras such as Nikon's D90 grabbing some attention. Canon set that straight today by announcing some new models, which included the revamped EOS 5D MkII. The new 5D is obviously aimed at the high end of the market with its 21.1 megapixel sensor and $2,699 price tag come November (body only). It also goes a step further than the D90 (which can record 720p video), by offering a 1080p video mode. If you want to get down to the nitty gritty, then dpreview has a nice preview article for you. Canon also announced some new compact models today, including another camera capable of full HD video, the SX1 IS. There were also new additions to the Powershot range, and the SX10 IS and G10. Obviously most will probably lust after the new 5D, but there might be something else amongst those

McCain Releases Technology Platform

I Don't Believe in Imaginary Property writes "John McCain has finally released a technology platform. Most of it is the same old stuff; lower corporate taxes, protect children from porn, and avoid Internet regulation unless 'necessary.' Alas, in his view, helping the RIAA's War on Sharing is necessary to stop the 'global epidemic' of piracy, while Net Neutrality is something he 'does not believe in.' Ars Technica has a review of McCain's platform." A brief analysis is also available from Federal Computer Week. In addition to the technology policy, McCain has also released a paper describing his stance on security and privacy. We've previously contrasted his views with those of Barack Obama. Obama's technology policies are also available online.
