A number of game sites write a review on a game, and then later change their mind so have to edit their review. This is what IGN has done with their Fallout 3 review for the Sony PS3. In the first review, IGN said that the PS3 version has some major issued. The new edited version of the review has removed any mention of that statement.

bakamaki writes "I work for a small manufacturing company as a SysAdmin. My boss is a DBA. We are the only IT employees. He recently decided to record hours spent on his projects and then evaluate how much time the databases he writes save the employees. Then he translates that into a $ figure. He's asking me to do something similar but I'm kinda at a loss. It seems most of the stuff I do is preventative, IE care and feeding of servers and network infrastructure in addition to all the break fix stuff I do for the user base with their desktops. When in this position what do you folks usually do?"

Money is on a lot of our minds this season. Either we're worried that we don't have enough, or we're trying to make the most of what we do have. Either way, charging for your work becomes more and more important. But how do you charge? Coming up with a pricing structure or just deciding what to charge can be hard. If you decide to bill for your hourly work, how do you decide on a fair rate? And how do you go about deciding to bill at a flat-rate vs. hourly? If you do freelance Web design, what is your preferred method of charging customers?

One of the biggest concerns in the space industry these days in the workforce: the worry that there are simply not enough young people entering the industry to replace those who are or will soon be retiring. It’s rare to have any general discussion about the industry without the topic coming up in one manner or another. An example is an op-ed that appeared earlier this month in the Southern California newspaper The Daily Breeze by Congresswoman Jane Harman, whose district includes many major aerospace companies. In it she warns of a “gray wave” and “demographic cliff” that the industry faces as the current generation retires with few filling the ranks behind them. At times workforce seems to be a bigger concern than popular gripes like limited budgets and export control restrictions.

My grandfather has an IRA through his bank that expires in 2014. He died this year. I closed all his CDs and paid the penalties. How do I close his IRA? I called the bank and told them I wanted to close it, but they said you can't close one early. Do I insist and just pay a penalty or do I tell them he died? Do I have to then go to court? The IRA is only $3,900. What do I do?

Content Axis Launches New Review Blog eStepz - One of the top ranking copywriting agency, Content Axis, now launches a new review blog, eStepz apparently with a different approach in contrast to the traditional blog reviews sites people ave been coming across on the web. Over the years, review blogs have been a fairly effective tool for promotions, advertising, link building and search engine optimization. eStepz takes the sole aim of promoting the website and enhancing traffic while disseminating relevant information for the viewers. Review blogs are not only popular but are also believed to be extremely effective when people look for the best services, products and features available. While blogs could be very useful for promoting business online by enhancing traffic and generating revenue, many fall short in quality levels.

Unlike their usual tack lately, Apple is doing something at the App Store that actually helps developers. Before, you could review—and slam—any app you wanted willy-nilly, even if you didn't own it. That changed over the weekend—now you have to own an app before you can review it, preventing an onslaught of one-star reviews for Tetris simply because EA is charging eight bucks for it. Now if Apple could apply some of that logic and fairness on their end and stop jerking developers around. [Alley Insider]

CMS Critic says that Drupal is the best, with Joomla! and CMS Made Simple tied for second. What do you think? Do you agree or disagree? I've never used CMS Made Simple, but I do like Drupal a bit better than Joomla! It just seemed a little bit easier to use to me.

Tsunayoshi writes "My son volunteered me to give a presentation on what I do for a living for career day at his elementary school. I need to come up with a roughly 20-minute presentation to be given to 4-5 different classrooms. I am a systems administrator, primarily Unix/Linux and enterprise NAS/SAN storage, working for an aerospace company. I was thinking something along the lines of explaining how some everyday things they experience (websites, telephone systems, etc.) all depend on servers, and those servers are maintained by systems administrators. I was also going to talk about what I do specifically, which is maintain the computer systems that allow the really smart rocket scientists to get things into space. Am I on the right track? Can anyone suggest some good (and cheap/easy to make) visual aids?"

Nikon D90 in-depth review. The D90 has some large shoes to step into, given that it replaces one of the most popular enthusiast-level cameras of recent times. We saw in our preview that it's had a feature boost and specification upgrade, but do those tweaks and changes result in a better camera (and images)? Has a fine camera been over-burdened with fripperies and video recording? We find out in our full, in depth review.

French magazine CanardPC feature a five pages article on Fallout 3. What should have been a review is actually a preview (the real review will come once Fallout 3 is released in Europe) because, it seems, Omar Boulon has had quite a hard time playing the game in proper conditions. Here are some excerpts...

Road test editor Chris Chilton has filed his thoughts electronically from the launch in Sicily to CAR HQ where we've updated this blog minute by minute with his first drive review of the new Ferrari California drop-top. Traditionalists fear not: we will be publishing his full, regular road test report as well. So tune in to join CAR in Sicily as we review of the new V8 from Maranello. We've updated the words and photos throughout the day, so start at the bottom and work your way up!

For organizations attempting to secure their Web applications to meet compliance standards, PCI regulations present a choice of two options: Perform a code review or install a WAF. This, however, is a false choice. The best course of action is to do both. Requirement 6.6 of PCI DSS specifies the means for protecting Web-facing applications, either by "Having all custom application code reviewed for common vulnerabilities by an organization that specializes in application security" or by :installing an application layer firewall in front of Web-facing applications." This short-worded requirement has raised one of the largest PCI debates: Which method should be put in place, a code review or a Web application firewall (WAF)?

Mockups are an important part of the design process. You don't want to do too much work before you know if the client will like it, but you want to make sure the client understands what you're going to give them. Personally, I prefer online mockups to print - for one thing, when I work for clients far from me, it's a lot easier to send them to a URL than to make sure they get a good color print out. But I had teammates who would never go to any meeting without a print mockup. And there are definite benefits - like you can draw right on the mockup what changes they want.

Are cell phones making it harder for people conducting polls? Do normal people actually answer polls in the first place? Seriously, is it technology (cell phones) making it harder to conduct polls or is it simply the fact that people do not want to be bothered repeatedly by pollsters? Do you like taking part in telephone polls and surveys?
