Apparently a fan of Jetsons-like living spaces, Panasonic is showing off a living room/kitchen area at CEATEC that puts all home gadgets and appliances on an interconnected network. Though we've seen numerous integrated home living concepts before, Panasonic's added a “Family Wellness Solution” that's kind of like a really advanced version of Wii Fit.

Top 10 Greatest Phrases To Ever Come Out Of A Video Game Character’s Mouth I’ve said it time and time again, video game storylines suck. But that doesn’t mean that the character’s in those horrible storylines can’t come up with pearls of wisdom (Or is it just comic gold?) when they open up their mouths. Below are, in my opinion, the ten greatest phrases to ever come out of a video game character’s mouth. I’m sure I’m missing a few here, but that’s what comment boards are for. So here they are, the top ten phrases ever. See if you can close your eyes and remember just how they sounded the first time you first heard them. Just don’t do it while you’re driving or operating heavy machinery. You should usually keep your eyes open for stuff like that.

"When you get a bunch of remote SSH sessions going it's easy to lose track of where you really are, because all you see are boring old generic prompts. Sure, they show the hostnames, but it's still easy to get confused. Which can be a bit amusing when you issue a reboot command to the wrong computer, or send a cranky broadcast message to all users on the wrong system. An easy way to keep track is to colorize and customize the Bash prompt on your remote systems, so you can easily differentiate them from your local login. You can assign different colors and text for different machines and accounts. For example, you can make the prompt turn green and display the text "THIS IS AN SSH SESSION"..."

Hands down, Nintendo Co., Ltd. has the best instruction manuals on this spinning blue orb we call Earth. The DSi manual is no exception. It politely advises things like don't drive and play DSi, don't stab the DSi with a screwdriver and don't throw the DSi away with burnable trash. Better take notes, this is all very, very important stuff.

I don't fully understand Nick Denton's decision to fold Valleywag into Gawker. Gawker's readers don't care about Silicon Valley gossip, and Valleywag's readers don't care who was spotted having lunch at Michael's yesterday. What's more, Gawker's clearly having difficulty selling out its inventory already -- hence the end of pay-per-pageview. So readers won't benefit, and although Gawker.com will get a traffic boost from this, it's not going to be easy to monetize that.

This report is the result of research conducted in 2004 and 2005 for Leveraging Investments in Creativity (LINC), a national initiative dedicated to increasing support for individual artists. An Urban Institute study published in 2003 had identified the need for artists' spaces as one of critical challenges facing individual artists. In many cities and neighborhoods, affordable spaces once occupied by artists had given way to a rising tide of gentrification and escalating rents. In other places, the low-incomes earned by artists put good-quality spaces in which to live and work out of reach. Yet in some communities, efforts by the private and public sector had helped artists find and renovate spaces, sometimes on their own and sometimes aided by the work of nonprofit and other developers.
