June 9, 2008 - Treyarch has revealed details on Call of Duty: World at War, previously known as Call of Duty 5. Unlike Call of Duty 1, 2 and 4, which were developed by Infinity Ward, World at War is being developed by Treyarch, the developer of Call of Duty 3, and will return The FPS franchise to its WWII roots. Treyarch also revealed to the Official Xbox Magazine that the next Call of Duty will, for the first time, support 4 player co-op over Xbox Live. IGN has contacted publisher Activision to see if that feature will make its way over to the other platforms, but no confirmation on that yet.

Activision and Treyarch announced today that they will be taking Call of Duty players deep into the South Pacific and European theaters this fall for Call of Duty: World at War, a gritty fight that will pit players against enemies that know no surrender and show no mercy. Utilizing the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War throws out the rulebook of war to transform WWII combat through a new enemy, new tactics and an uncensored experience of the climatic battles that gripped a generation. As U.S. Marines and Russian soldiers, players will employ new features like cooperative gameplay, and weapons such as the flamethrower in the most chaotic and cinematically intense experience to date.

Zonk pointed out a post on Joystiq highlighting a recent tantrum thrown by the ESA. Apparently the ESA didn't appreciate the framing GamePolitics chose to use for a story about E3's Keynote speaker and Texas Governor, Rick Perry. GamePolitics continues to call Perry into question as a choice for keynote speaker, saying: "While there are surely many Christians among E3 attendess, there are just as surely many who aren't. Aside from the fact that Perry was a bizarre keynote choice from the get-go, his divisive comments indicate that the ESA should rescind the offer. We have to ask again: why is E3 2008 being politicized? The answer, we suspect, has much to do with embattled ESA boss Michael Gallagher."

For the first time since docking with the International Space Station (ISS) on April 3rd, the Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) "Jules Verne" has been awoken and instructed to carry out an impressive task: push the ISS to a higher orbit. The robotic supply vessel, currently attached to the station's Zvezda module carried out a 12 minute 20 second burn of its main engines. This is the first time an ESA spaceship has carried out such a task and it appears to have performed flawlessly, lifting the 280 tonne station 4.5 km (2.8 miles) to a new altitude of 342 km (213 miles). In true ESA style, they've even released a cool video simulation of the event…
