Yahoo! to begin US test of Google's AdSense for Search

Yahoo! will begin a limited test of Google's AdSense for Search service, which will deliver relevant Google ads alongside Yahoo!'s own search results. The test will apply only to traffic from yahoo.com in the US and will not include Yahoo!'s extended network of affiliate or premium publisher partners. The test is expected to last up to two weeks and will be limited to no more than 3 percent of Yahoo! search queries. The company noted that the testing does not necessarily mean that Yahoo! will join the AdSense for Search program or that any further commercial relationship with Google will result. The company further stated that it would not comment on the nature or timing of any potential relationship. Microsoft issued a statement in response to the news, saying a tie-up between Yahoo! and Google would consolidate over 90 percent of the se

Microsoft On Google-Yahoo Tie-Up: Google To Have 90 Percent Of Ad Market; Market Less Competitive

Microsoft has weighed in on this evening’s announcement, claiming that the agreement gives Google (NSDQ: GOOG) 90 percent of the online ad market, and thus makes the market “far less competitive.” So far, it doesn’t have an official strategic response, other than that it’s weighing its options. But it does deliver a key message to Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) shareholders: “Our proposal remains the only alternative put forward that offers Yahoo! shareholders full and fair value for their shares, gives every shareholder a vote on the future of the company, and enhances choice for content creators, advertisers, and consumers.” Basically, if you want to get paid for your shares, you’ll go with Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT). If you want to see the value of your holdings collapse, then sign an ad deal with Google and good luck going it alone.

Yahoo-Google Deal May Face Problems

With Microsoft's previously given deadline of 26th April drawing nearer, Yahoo has made some plans with Google with the two-week test in which Yahoo placed relevant ads from Google on its search results. Talks of antitrust issues are floating in the air if the two major search engines are looking at possible merge in lieu of Microsoft's undervalued offer as claimed by Yahoo, but the final straw hasn't been drawn till next week where we'll see if Yahoo accepts the Microsoft deal, or forces the Redmond company to act on its ultimatum and initiate a proxy fight for Yahoo's shares.

Yahoo rushing Google deal to fight Icahn?

Yahoo is accelerating the process of launching an expanded Google deal to stave off investor Carl Icahn's board takeover attempt and a resulting Microsoft buyout, say alleged sources for the New York Post. The renewed threat of a Microsoft acquisition has supposedly led Yahoo to step up plans that would let any company make bids for ad placements on Yahoo's search system, effectively rewarding Google by handing the bulk of sales to the most dominant ad provider.

As Icahn Storms The Gates, Yahoo Sends Google Ad Smoke Signals Again

Every time things heat up at Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO), they seem to play the Google (NSDQ: GOOG) card. In the days before it went into failed negotiations with Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT), the company leaked word that an ad deal with Google would be announced soon, possibly the following week. That didn’t happen once the deal collapsed. And now, with Yahoo totally back in play, here it comes again: News.com is corroborating a New York Post story from this morning, suggesting a deal is imminent and that an announcement is expected—wait for it—next week.

Report: Following Test, Yahoo Seeks Ad Deal with Google

Sunnyvale, Calif. - Following what is said to have been a successful week-long test, Yahoo (NASD: YHOO) is now seeking to partner with Google (NASD: GOOG) to provide ads alongside its search results, the Wall Street Journal reported. The tie-up with Google would be a key element to a prospective deal where Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) would merge with Yahoo, and take a stake in the company, according to Reuters.

AOL Jumps Into the Ring with Microsoft, Yahoo!, Google

mikkl666 writes "Even just since this morning, there's much to report in the ongoing fight between Microsoft and Yahoo!. After Yahoo! announced yesterday that they are testing Google AdSense, Microsoft reacted with a comment pointing out that 'any definitive agreement between Yahoo! and Google would consolidate over 90% of the search advertising market in Google's hands.' Ironically, they complain that 'this would make the market far less competitive.' Both companies try to team up with strong partners, as well. Yahoo! and AOL are now closing in on a deal to combine their Internet operations. And of course, this morning's news was that Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. is apparently in talks for a joint bid for Yahoo!"

Google-Yahoo Ad Test: A Gimmick To Thwart MicrosoftOr Simply Surrender?

A number of online ad industry execs expressed extreme skepticism that Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) is serious about pursuing a larger, more long-term outsourcing arrangement with Google on paid search. Yahoo has taken care to make this a very limited test: only U.S. searches on Yahoo.com are involved, affiliate deals will not be affected in any way and it’s over in two weeks.

Yahoo and Google Nearing Ad Deal?

Yahoo and Google are reportedly getting closer to working out an online advertising deal, following a successful limited run on Google ads on Yahoo sites.

Yahoo, Google Team Up in Online Advertising

Yahoo and Google are launching a small experiment in which ads selected and delivered by Google would appear on Yahoo searches. That would probably give Yahoo more cash, because Google generates more revenue per search query than Yahoo. The development is widely seen as an effort by Yahoo to avoid the buyout advances of Microsoft.

Google rethinks Yahoo ad deal

Google may be getting cold feet. In a last-ditch effort to avoid a merger with Microsoft, Yahoo said it was considering teaming with Google in a search advertising deal. But some Google executives are now questioning whether that’s a good idea, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

The Tools Google Uses Internally

A web seminar Google held yesterday at KMWorld Magazine offered a great deal of insight into how Google manages projects and communication internally. The presentation by Google followed an employee through his first few weeks at the company, explaining the many tools hes using: from the Google intranet MOMA, the Google Ideas site and Google Caribou Alpha, to Google Experts Search, Googler Search, and Google Apps. Following is a smaller excerpt of the large-size screenshots & info Google was showing in the 59-page presentation, with thanks to Brian who has a wrap-up of the presentation as well as the full slides at his blog for sending this in. KMWorld says the presentation will be archived at their site eventually, so perhaps if you register with them you might still be able to see the event.
